Walker Buehler - Lasts just 2.1 innings Buehler did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Nationals, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks over 2.1 innings. He struck out four.
Impact Buehler got off to an excellent start Wednesday, striking out the first four batters he faced. However, after two perfect innings, things started to unravel in the third -- five straight Nats reached base off Buehler to open the frame, spearheaded by a Keibert Ruiz solo homer. The right-hander would then depart after throwing 60 pitches. Buehler had gone at least five innings in each of his previous five starts, working to a 2.57 ERA across 28 innings in that span. Overall, Buehler is 8-6 with a 4.61 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 121:53 K:BB across 29 starts (138.2 innings) this season. He's tentatively in line to face the Rockies on the road his next time out.

Jackson Kent - Falls to San Diego Kent (1-4) took the loss Wednesday against the Padres, allowing five runs on eight hits and a walk across three innings. He struck out two.
Impact It was a tough day for Kent, who gave up three runs in the third inning and two more in the fourth. The rookie southpaw has now given up eight runs (seven earned) across eight innings in his last two starts. Overall, his ERA is up to 6.59 with a 1.83 WHIP and 23:20 K:BB across six starts (27.1 innings) this season. Kent will look to rebound his next time out, tentatively scheduled to come at home against the Phillies.

Impact Merrill powered the San Diego offense in Wednesday's victory, as he drove in six of their nine runs while launching his 23rd and 24th homers this season, matching his career high. Merrill's now gone 7-for-12 with four extra-base hits in his last three games after going 0-for-14 in his prior four contests.
