INJURIES

Strikes out seven in loss Urena (8-9) allowed three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out seven over five innings to take the loss versus the Astros on Wednesday.
Impact Urena has had a rollercoaster month, going 2-2 with seven runs allowed over 19.1 innings. The right-hander didn't pitch poorly Wednesday, but he was tagged for a Christian Vazquez solo shot in the third inning and two more runs in the fourth to send him to the loss. Urena is now at a 2.80 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 109:59 K:BB through 112.2 innings over 23 games (21 starts) on the year. He's lined up to make his next start at home against the Guardians.

Rebounds in win over Rangers Urena (8-8) allowed two hits and two walks while striking out five over six shutout innings to earn the win over the Rangers on Thursday.
Impact Urena threw 65 of 100 pitches for strikes in this rebound performance. He had been tagged for four runs over 2.1 innings in his previous start, but Thursday's outing was more in line with what he's shown throughout the year. The rookie has a 2.67 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 102:57 K:BB through 107.2 innings over 22 games (20 starts). Urena's continuing high walk rate remains a concern -- he's issued 20 free passes over 36 innings since the start of July, but he's shown an ability to limit damage. His next start is projected to be on the road in Houston.

Early exit Saturday Urena (7-8) took the loss Saturday, coughing up four runs on four hits and three walks over 2.1 innings as the Angels were routed 7-0 by the Marlins. He struck out two.
Impact The rookie right-hander faced the minimum six batters through the first two innings but the wheels came off in the third, and Urena got the hook after just 50 pitches (30 strikes) in his shortest appearance since moving into the rotation in mid-April. The rough outing ended a streak of three straight quality starts for Urena, and he'd allowed just three earned runs total over his last five outings. He'll take a 2.83 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 97:55 K:BB through 101.2 innings into his next start, which is set to come at home next week against the Rangers.

Throws six shutout innings Urena (7-7) allowed three hits and three walks while striking out seven over six shutout innings to earn the win over the Brewers on Sunday.
Impact Urena wasn't quite as stingy as opposing starter Jacob Misiorowski when it came to baserunners, but Urena was able to avoid giving up a run. Over his last seven outings, Urena has held an opponent to one run or less on six occasions. He's allowed just 10 runs across 37 inning with a 37:17 K:BB in that span. For the season, the rookie right-hander has a 2.54 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 95:52 K:BB across 99.1 innings through 20 appearances (18 starts). His next start is projected to be on the road in Miami.

Strong showing in no-decision Urena did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over six innings against the Astros. He struck out five.
Impact Aside from a solo homer by Taylor Trammell in the fourth inning, Urena kept the Astros offense quiet and was in line for the win before a ninth-inning implosion by the Angels bullpen. The right-hander's impressive rookie season has continued into July, as he's posted a 1.25 ERA and 1.02 WHIP across 21.2 innings (four starts) this month. Overall, Urena owns a 6-7 record with a 2.70 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 88:49 K:BB across 93.1 innings (19 appearances). His next outing is tentatively scheduled for Sunday against the Brewers.

Posts quality start in sixth win Urena (6-7) allowed one run on six hits and a walk while striking out five over six innings to earn the win over the Cardinals on Tuesday.
Impact Urena had fallen short of the six-inning mark in each of his last four starts, though he gave up a modest eight runs over 19 innings in that span. The rookie right-hander was able to limit the damage to a single run in the fifth inning after running into a little trouble. He has a 2.78 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 83:47 K:BB through 87.1 innings over 18 games (16 starts) this season). Urena is lined up to make his next start at home versus the Astros. Considering he threw 145 innings across two levels of the minors in 2025, Urena doesn't appear to be on track for any significant workload limitations over the remainder of the campaign.

Inefficient in no-decision Urena allowed one hit and five walks while striking out three over four scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Rangers on Wednesday.
Impact Urena's inefficiency (52 strikes on 90 pitches) ultimately kept him from ending his winless stretch, which is now at three games. However, aside from a seven-run disaster versus the Athletics on June 26, he's largely pitched well despite some control problems. Urena is now at a 2.88 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 78:46 K:BB through 81.1 innings over 17 games (15 starts) in his rookie season.

Dealt tough-luck loss Thursday Urena (5-7) allowed one run on one hit and four walks while striking out six batters over 5.2 innings in a loss to Seattle on Thursday.
Impact Urena and Seattle starter Bryce Miller went toe-to-toe for five scoreless innings, but Urena folded in the sixth, when he walked three batters and gave up a double to allow a run to cross the plate. That ended up being the only time the Mariners scored in the contest, but it was enough to hand Urena the loss since the Angels were shut out. Despite the defeat, there were plenty of positives for the right-hander, who racked up 17 whiffs and six punchouts while rebounding nicely from a seven-run, 4.1-inning dud in his previous appearance. Urena has pitched pretty well overall so far during his rookie campaign to nail down a spot in the rotation. Through 16 appearances, including 14 starts, he has a 3.03 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 75:41 K:BB over 77.1 innings.

Worst start of season Urena (5-6) allowed seven runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five over 4.1 innings to take the loss versus the Athletics on Friday.
Impact Urena didn't allow a baserunner through four innings, but the Athletics' offense burst to life for seven runs in the fifth. What started well ended up being the 22-year-old's worst start in his young major-league career. Despite the stumble, he still has a 3.14 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 69:37 K:BB over 71.2 innings through 15 appearances (13 starts). Urena has had more good than bad moments this season, limiting opponents to two runs or fewer in nine of his 13 starts, but as a rookie with a lofty walk rate (4.65 BB/9), there's still some risk for fantasy managers who want to roster him.

Hurls five scoreless frames Urena (5-5) earned the win over the Athletics on Saturday, allowing four hits and striking out six batters while issuing zero walks over five scoreless innings.
Impact Urena got the A's to swing and miss 17 times and threw 58 of his 90 pitches for strikes. In addition, the right-hander didn't issue any walks for the first time this season, including his short relief appearances early in the campaign. Urena had handed out multiple free passes in six consecutive outings coming into Saturday, so the improved control is notable as he looks to further develop during his first year in the majors. The 22-year-old has been a revelation so far for the Angels, holding a 2.41 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 64:35 K:BB over 67.1 innings spanning 14 appearances (12 starts). Urena has entrenched himself in the rotation and is lined up to face the Athletics again -- this time at home -- in his next start.

Goes seven frames for first time Urena (4-5) took the loss against Arizona on Monday, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out three batters over seven innings.
Impact It was a bit of a mixed bag for Urena; he totaled just six whiffs and three punchouts while taking the loss, but he also completed seven frames for the first time as a big-leaguer and logged his sixth quality start. The right-hander got through those seven innings on an efficient 88 pitches, allowing his team's bullpen a breather one day after the Angels used five different relievers against Tampa Bay. Urena continues to dig his heels into a rotation role, as he's given up three or fewer earned runs in nine straight outings. Overall, the rookie has put together a strong 2.60 ERA along with a 1.35 WHIP and 58:35 K:BB over 62.1 innings spanning 13 appearances (11 starts).
