Impact Urena mostly had a strong rookie season, but he ended it on a sour note with this start. This was just the third time all year he was tagged for five or more runs in a game. He ends his campaign at a 2.97 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 142:68 K:BB through 148.1 innings over 29 games (27 starts). Urena still has some room to grow, particularly when it comes to cutting back walks, but he was effective at limiting home runs (0.6 HR/9), which bodes well for the long run.

Impact Since the start of July, Urena has held opponents to one run or less in nine of his 13 outings. This was arguably his best performance of the season -- he set a new high for strikeouts in a game while also completing seven scoreless frames for the first time. The rookie right-hander is at a 2.74 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 140:67 K:BB through 144.1 innings over 28 games (26 starts). He's projected for one more start this season, which is set to be on the road versus the Athletics.

Impact All the damage off Urena came in the first two innings, but the right-hander settled in after that and was taken off the hook for a loss when the Angels staged a late rally from a 4-0 deficit. It's the first time since Aug. 8 that Urena's been tagged for more than three runs, and over his first 137.1 big-league innings he's produced a 2.88 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 131:67 K:BB. He'll look to for his 10th win of the season in his next outing, which is set to come at home next week against the Twins.

Impact Henry Davis' solo home run in the third inning accounted for all of the damage against Urena on Sunday, as the right-hander turned in another excellent outing. However, the Angels failed to provide any run support in an eventual 1-0 defeat. Urena's now allowed just two runs on eight hits across 15 innings in his last two starts, lowering his ERA to 2.74 with a 1.21 WHIP and 124:65 K:BB across 131.1 innings this season. He's currently in line to face the Nationals on the road his next time out.

Aside from that small hiccup, the rookie hurler shined against a tough offense, racking up 16 whiffs while tying a season high with eight punchouts. Perhaps most promisingly, Urena didn't issue a single walk after handing out multiple free passes in each of his previous six outings, including five his last time out versus Cleveland. Urena tossed three quality starts over six appearances in August and finished with a 3.30 ERA and 32:15 K:BB across 30 innings during the month. He's more than held his own during his first MLB campaign, posting a 2.85 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 120:64 K:BB through 25 appearances (23 starts) spanning 123.1 frames.

Impact Urena was given plenty of early run support as the Angels jumped ahead to a 5-0 lead, but he struggled badly with his command and couldn't pitch deep enough to qualify for the win.
