Sent to Atlanta Atlanta acquired Mederos from the Angels on Friday in exchange for international bonus pool money and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Impact The right-hander was waived by the Halos last weekend and is now headed to a new organization. Mederos appeared in five games (three starts) for Anaheim last year and had a 7.41 ERA and 14:12 K:BB over 17 innings, though he was more effective at Triple-A with a 3.39 ERA and 1.34 WHIP across 16 starts.

DFA'd by Halos The Angels designated Mederos for assignment Sunday.

Impact The right-hander missed out on the Opening Day roster and will lose his place on the 40-man roster after he surrendered seven earned runs over three frames in his season debut for Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday. Mederos could remain with Salt Lake if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

Cut from big-league camp The Angels optioned Mederos to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.

Impact Mederos entered the spring facing long odds to win a spot in the Angels' Opening Day rotation and didn't help his case by yielding six earned runs on seven hits and four walks across 4.1 innings between his two Cactus League outings. The right-hander should continue to make regular starts at Salt Lake to begin the season but won't necessarily be the Angels' first choice for a call-up if a spot in the big-league rotation opens up.

Fully healthy after shoulder issue Mederos is without restrictions in Angels camp after finishing last season on the injured list with right shoulder soreness, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.

Impact Mederos missed the final month-plus of the 2025 campaign but began his normal offseason throwing routine in mid-October. The 24-year-old made five appearances (three starts) for the Angels last season, yielding 14 runs with a 14:12 K:BB over 17 frames. Mederos is unlikely to crack the Opening Day roster but could be one of the first arms called upon when the Angels need a starter.
