Taking batting practice Grissom (wrist) has been participating in batting practice and taking ground balls at the Angels' complex in Arizona, per MLB.com.

Impact Grissom landed on the IL on March 24 (retroactive to March 22) due to a left wrist sprain. He seems to be progressing toward a return and isn't expected to miss extensive time. However, general manager Perry Minasian has indicated that Grissom will need a minor-league rehab assignment before being activated.

Bound for injured list Manager Kurt Suzuki said Tuesday that Grissom (hand) will begin the season on the injured list, Jack Janes of TheSportingTribune.com reports.

Impact Grissom received a cortisone shot last week to help treat his sore left hand. The Angels skipper noted that the 25-year-old has progressed well since then and has begun hitting off a tee and fielding grounders, but he won't be ready to go for the start of the season. Once healthy, Grissom is expected to take on a bench utility role.

Impact Grissom had a forgettable tenure in Boston after being sent there from Atlanta in the Chris Sale trade. He slashed only .190/.246/.219 with zero home runs over 31 games during the 2024 season before spending all of 2025 at Triple-A Worcester, where he slashed .270/.342/.441 with 13 home runs. Grissom -- who will turn just 25 in January -- is out of minor-league options and will get a fresh start with the Angels.
