Rehab assignment on tap
Taylor (hip) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Binghamton on Friday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact
Taylor landed on the injured list May 25 with a hip flexor strain but is now set to begin ramping up toward his return to the active roster. However, Carson Benge and A.J. Ewing have both cemented themselves as regular starters in New York's outfield, so Taylor will almost certainly be limited to a bench role once he comes off the IL.

Has begun running progression
Taylor (hip) began running this past week but has yet to resume full baseball activities, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Impact
The reserve outfielder suffered a hip injury while running out a groundball May 25. Taylor had a meager .530 OPS in 104 plate appearances when he landed on the IL, and with rookies A.J. Ewing and Carson Benge solidifying their spots in the lineup, the 32-year-old likely won't have much of a role once he gets healthy.

IL move made official
The Mets placed Taylor on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a right hip flexor strain.
Impact
Taylor was injured while running out a grounder in Monday's loss to the Reds. The severity of the strain hasn't been revealed, but even if it's mild, it's the type of injury that often leads to longer than a minimum absence.

Expected to hit IL
Taylor (hip) will be sent for an MRI, but the team expects that he'll require a stint on the injured list, Andrew Tredinnick of The Bergen Record reports.
Impact
Taylor was pulled from Monday's game against Cincinnati after suffering a right hip injury, and the team has yet to reveal the severity of the issue. Assuming he does land on the injured list over the next day or so, A.J. Ewing and Bretty Baty could pick up a few extra at-bats.

Leaves with apparent leg injury
Taylor was removed from Monday's game versus the Reds after the sixth inning with an apparent leg injury, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports.
Impact
He limped off the field and into the clubhouse after grounding out in the bottom of the sixth inning, and MJ Melendez entered the game in Taylor's place in the top of the seventh. Taylor went 0-for-2 with a strikeout in his two plate appearances before exiting. The Mets should have more on the outfielder's condition soon.

Not in Wednesday's lineup
Taylor is not in the Mets' starting lineup against the Rockies on Wednesday, Manny Randhawa of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Taylor will be out of the Mets' lineup for a second consecutive game while the team starts Juan Soto, Carson Benge and MJ Melendez in the outfield from left to right. Taylor has struggled at the plate as of late, having gone 3-for-22 (.136) with one RBI over his last eight outings.

Heading to bench Monday
Taylor is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies.
Impact
Taylor will hit the bench after starting in the Mets' previous three games while going 1-for-11 with a walk and an RBI. Though his playing-time outlook has improved with Luis Robert (back) recently landing on the injured list, Taylor may have to settle for a part-time role in center field against right-handed pitching since rookie Carson Benge is also capable of covering the position.

Provides lone run in Game 1 loss
Taylor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a 3-1 loss to the Rockies in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader.
Impact
Taylor went deep off Jose Quintana in the fifth inning of the matinee game. This was Taylor's second homer of the season, though he entered Sunday just 4-for-19 (.211) over his previous nine games. The outfielder reverted to his usual recent form by going 0-for-3 in the nightcap, ending the day at .214/.233/.381 slash line with two homers, seven RBI, four runs scored and no stolen bases over 45 plate appearances. Taylor is working as a fourth outfielder for now and will likely earn most of his plate appearances against southpaws, though the newly-signed Austin Slater could end up filling a similar role.
