Sitting in third straight game Tolbert is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.
Impact Tolbert made some waves with a recent three-game stretch in which he tied an MLB record with 12 consecutive hits while slugging two home runs, stealing three bases, driving in four runs and scoring seven times, but his brief run as a regular in the Kansas City lineup appears to have come to an end. With the Royals brining Vinnie Pasquantino back from the injured list Friday, Tolbert has been the odd man out of the lineup for all three games in Baltimore this weekend. The lack of a full-time role will limit Tolbert's utility in mixed leagues, but he'll still have some appeal in AL-only formats since he still projects to play regularly against left-handed pitching and can make an impact with his speed even with sporadic playing time.

Ties MLB record, 12th straight hit Tolbert went 5-for-6 with a home run, two RBI, four runs scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's 16-12 win over the Mets.
Impact Tolbert got the Royals' offense rolling by taking Kodai Senga deep in his first plate appearance of the night. He added his third stolen base of the month in the fifth inning. Entering Tuesday on a 7-for-7 streak, Tolbert capped off a remarkable stretch with an infield single in the seventh, tying the major-league record with hits in 12 consecutive plate appearances. Typically known more for his defense and speed, Tolbert has caught fire at the plate over the last few days and is now slashing .396/.434/.542 across 54 plate appearances this season.

Tolbert leads Royals against the Mets after 5-hit outing

The Kansas City Royals take on the New York Mets after Tyler Tolbert had five hits against the Phillies on Monday
JULY 7 • Associated Press
Career-high five hits Monday Tolbert went 5-for-5 with a solo home run and an RBI double during the Royals' 15-1 win over the Phillies on Monday.
Impact The bats were hot for the Royals on Monday, with seven of the nine starters logging at least two hits and five players -- including Tolbert -- driving in at least two runs. However, the 28-year-old Tolbert stood out from his teammates with a career-high five hits -- including his first home run of the season -- while falling a triple shy from the cycle. Thanks to Monday's performance, he is now slashing .333/.383/.429 with nine steals, three RBI, two extra-base hits and 13 runs scored across 48 plate appearances.

Swipes two bags Saturday Tolbert went 2-for-2 with a pair of stolen bases in Saturday's loss to the Phillies.
Impact The Royals were mostly shut down by Philadelphia starter Jesus Luzardo, but Tolbert knocked two singles off the left-hander and stole a base after each hit. He was the only KC batter with multiple hits in the defeat. Tolbert hasn't gotten a lot of playing time of late -- his start Saturday was just his fourth over the Royals' past eight contests. While he's slashing a modest .243/.310/.243 with no extra-base hits on the season, he's made the most of his opportunities on the basepaths, stealing nine bags in 11 attempts.
