Dispatched to minors
The Orioles optioned Gibson to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.
Impact
The move comes one day after Gibson was hammered for eight runs over 2.2 innings in a loss to the White Sox. He will return to Norfolk, where he has logged a 3.55 ERA and 38:19 K:BB over 38 innings covering nine starts this season. Gibson's spot in the Orioles' rotation will be absorbed by Dean Kremer, who is back from the injured list and will start Wednesday's game.

Wiped out by White Sox
Gibson (1-3) took the loss Tuesday as the Orioles were downed 9-3 by the White Sox, coughing up eight runs on seven hits and six walks over 2.2 innings. He struck out five.
Impact
Things fell apart for Gibson in the third inning as Chicago piled on seven runs, highlighted by a 440-foot homer from Colson Montgomery that left Camden Yards completely and landed on Eutaw Street. The rookie right-hander has been taken deep five times in his last four starts while stumbling to a 10.69 ERA over 16 innings, and with Dean Kremer (quadriceps) expected to rejoin the rotation Wednesday, Gibson will likely be shipped back to Triple-A Norfolk to make room on the big-league roster.

Serviceable in no-decision
Gibson took a no-decision Wednesday against the Angels, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks in four innings. He struck out five.
Impact
Gibson was serviceable Wednesday, holding the Angels to two runs over four innings. Baltimore still hasn't trusted the rookie right-hander to work particularly deep into starts, as Gibson has pitched into the sixth inning just one time across his first seven outings. He has a shaky 5.64 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 25:19 K:BB across 30.1 innings, but Gibson is set to take at least one more turn through the big-league rotation next week against the White Sox while the Orioles wait for Dean Kremer (quadriceps) to complete his rehab assignment.

Strikes out eight in no-decision
Gibson allowed three runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out eight over five innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers.
Impact
Gibson was able to keep the ball down, but he's now walked at least four batters in three of his four outings during this stint in the majors. The rookie right-hander's eight strikeouts were a season high. He's struggled early in his big-league career, posting a 5.81 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 20:18 K:BB through 26.1 innings over six outings (five starts). Until the walk rate comes down, he'll have a tough time being competitive. Gibson is tentatively projected to make his next start in a more favorable road matchup versus the Angels.

Lacks command in Saturday's loss
Gibson (1-2) took the loss Saturday, coughing up six runs on three hits and five walks over 4.1 innings as the Orioles were downed 9-3 by the Padres. He struck out seven.
Impact
The rookie right-hander did set a new career high in strikeouts in his fifth big-league appearance and fourth start, but Gibson threw only 53 of 93 pitches for strikes and got hit hard when he did get the ball in the strike zone, serving up homers to Jackson Merrill and Samad Taylor in the top of the first inning as San Diego jumped out to a 4-0 lead. Gibson has a 5.91 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 12:13 K:BB in 21.1 innings for Baltimore, and with Chris Bassitt (back) expected to return from the IL next week, he could be headed back to Triple-A Norfolk before getting another start.

Drawing another start
Gibson is slated to start Saturday's game against the Padres at Camden Yards, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Gibson will be handed a second straight turn through the Baltimore rotation while the Orioles await Chris Bassitt's (back) return from the injured list. The rookie right-hander has thus far made four appearances (three starts) over four separate stints with Baltimore this season, logging a 4.24 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 5:8 K:BB in 17 frames while reaching five innings in just one of those outings.

Falls apart in fifth inning
Gibson (1-1) took the loss Monday against the Rays, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk in 4.2 innings. He failed to record a strikeout.
Impact
Filling in for the injured Chris Bassitt (back), Gibson wasn't very effective in a spot start Monday. The rookie right-hander did make it through four scoreless innings initially, but the Mariners tagged him for three runs in the fifth frame. Gibson has looked overmatched at times in the major leagues, posting a 4.24 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and an alarming 5:8 K:BB over 17 innings, so he'll be tough to trust as a streaming option in his next scheduled start versus the Padres.

Called up, drawing start Monday
The Orioles recalled Gibson from Triple-A Norfolk and will have him start Monday's game against the Mariners at Camden Yards.
Impact
The 24-year-old righty will be entering the Baltimore rotation as a replacement for right-hander Chris Bassitt (back), who was moved to the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Gibson is up with the Orioles for his fourth stint of the season, after previously turning in a 3.65 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 5:7 K:BB in 12.1 innings over his first three big-league appearances (two starts).
