Falls apart in fifth inning
Gibson (1-1) took the loss Monday against the Rays, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk in 4.2 innings. He failed to record a strikeout.
Impact
Filling in for the injured Chris Bassitt (back), Gibson wasn't very effective in a spot start Monday. The rookie right-hander did make it through four scoreless innings initially, but the Mariners tagged him for three runs in the fifth frame. Gibson has looked overmatched at times in the major leagues, posting a 4.24 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and an alarming 5:8 K:BB over 17 innings, so he'll be tough to trust as a streaming option in his next scheduled start versus the Padres.

Called up, drawing start Monday
The Orioles recalled Gibson from Triple-A Norfolk and will have him start Monday's game against the Mariners at Camden Yards.
Impact
The 24-year-old righty will be entering the Baltimore rotation as a replacement for right-hander Chris Bassitt (back), who was moved to the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Gibson is up with the Orioles for his fourth stint of the season, after previously turning in a 3.65 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 5:7 K:BB in 12.1 innings over his first three big-league appearances (two starts).

Optioned to Norfolk
The Orioles optioned Gibson to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com reports.
Impact
Gibson gave the Orioles 5.2 innings of one-run ball during his season debut in Wednesday's win. Now that his duties as a spot starter are complete, he'll head back to Triple-A in favor of Cameron Weston. Gibson owns a 3.65 ERA and 1.62 WHIP across 12.1 innings through his first three MLB appearances and figures to remain a candidate for additional spot starts throughout the season.

Secures first career MLB win
Gibson (1-0) earned the win Wednesday against the Rays, allowing one run on six hits and four walks while striking out one over 5.2 innings.
Impact
Making just the second start of his MLB career, the right-hander threw 57 of his 100 pitches for strikes and stranded multiple runners throughout the outing, including working out of a bases-loaded jam in the third inning. He carried a scoreless outing into the sixth before allowing back-to-back baserunners, and a subsequent groundout plated Tampa Bay's lone run. Baltimore's offense gave him plenty of support, scoring eight runs before he exited, helping Gibson secure his first career MLB victory.

Making spot start Wednesday
The Orioles recalled Gibson from Triple-A Norfolk and will have him start Wednesday's game against the Rays.
Impact
Baltimore optioned lefty Nick Raquet to Triple-A to open up a spot on the active roster for Gibson, who will likely be in line for just one start while the Orioles are in the midst of a stretch of nine games in eight days. The 24-year-old righty has previously made two appearances (one start) for Baltimore this season, striking out four over 6.2 innings while yielding four earned runs on seven hits and three walks. Gibson hasn't covered more than five innings in any of his outings with Baltimore or Norfolk this season, so he could struggle to work deep enough into Wednesday's contest to qualify for a win.

Impact
Chris Bassitt is lined up to take the ball on whichever of the two days Gibson doesn't start. In one start and one relief outing for the Orioles this season, Gibson has posted a 5.40 ERA and 4:3 K:BB over 6.2 innings. The Orioles need a spot starter after having a doubleheader this past weekend, and Gibson is likely to be sent back down following the outing.

Heading back to Triple-A
The Orioles optioned Gibson to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday.
Impact
The move corresponds with the Orioles selecting Josh Walker's contract from Norfolk and the team transferring Heston Kjerstad (hamstring) to the 60-day injured list. Gibson made his major-league debut May 3 in a spot start against the Yankees and was used in long relief against the Athletics on Friday. Across those two outings, he has allowed four runs on seven hits (including two homers) and three walks while striking out four across 6.2 frames.

Needed in long relief Friday
Gibson gave up one run on three hits and one walk over two innings of relief in Friday's 4-3 loss to the A's. He struck out two.
Impact
Called back up from Triple-A Norfolk earlier in the day, Gibson was immediately deployed by manager Craig Albernaz in a long-relief role. It's a vote of confidence in Brandon Young's ability to hold down a spot in the rotation as injuries pile up on Baltimore's staff, but Gibson also hasn't done much to push for a bigger role. The 23-year-old right-hander has a 4.01 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 25:12 K:BB over 24.2 innings for Norfolk, and in two big-league appearances (one start) he's managed a 5.40 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 4:3 K:BB in 6.2 frames.

Back with big club
The Orioles recalled Gibson from Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.
Impact
The right-hander was briefly up with Baltimore for a spot start last weekend and will now rejoin the major-league club with Cade Povich (shoulder) landing on the injured list. Gibson is one of the organization's top prospects and gave up three runs across 4.2 innings during his big-league debut. With Trevor Rogers (illness) nearing his return from the IL, Gibson could be available out of the bullpen Friday versus the Athletics, according to Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com.

The Orioles optioned Gibson to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Goes 4.2 innings in debut
Gibson did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Yankees, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out two.
Impact
Making his major-league debut, Gibson gave up a solo home run to Ben Rice in the first inning before Aaron Judge added a two-run blast in the third. Overall, it was a decent debut for Gibson against one of the league's premier offenses. Still, he'll likely return to Triple-A with Trevor Rogers (illness) expected to rejoin the rotation soon.

Contract selected for MLB debut
The Orioles selected Gibson's contract from Triple-A Norfolk, and he will start Sunday's game against the Yankees.
Impact
Gibson will fill the rotation spot vacated by Trevor Rogers, who recently landed on the injured list due to an illness. The 23-year-old righty is one of the organization's top prospects and has a 4.01 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 25:12 K:BB across 24.2 innings to begin the season with Norfolk. Gibson is likely in line for just one start with the Orioles, but a strong debut could give himself a chance of getting a longer look in the majors.
