GAME LOG

INJURIES

Slated to start Saturday Toussaint is expected to start Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Mariners, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
Impact Toussaint made his debut for the Angels last weekend and allowed two runs across four innings of long relief, and he'll make a spot start in Saturday's twin bill. Another decent showing could keep the 26-year-old in the mix for future starts after the departure of Noah Syndergaard at the trade deadline.

Earns win in Halos debut Toussaint (1-0) allowed two runs on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts in four innings of relief, earning the win Saturday over the Rangers.
Impact If Saturday's game was an audition for one spot in the rotation, Toussaint fared better than starter Chase Silseth. Toussaint's lone mistake was a two-run home run to Meibrys Viloria in the sixth inning, though the Angels rallied ahead with a five-run eighth to put the 26-year-old righty in line for the win. Toussaint made 15 of his 18 major-league appearances over the last two years as a starter, though he's yet to really establish himself. The Angels have a high number of pitchers stretched out to a starter's workload, but few have really seized the chance to hold down a spot at the back end of the team's six-man rotation. Until stated otherwise, Toussaint can be considered a multi-inning reliever with the potential to fill in as a spot starter.

Called up Saturday Toussaint was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.
Impact Toussaint was traded from Atlanta to the Angels in early July and posted a 3.38 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in eight innings over three starts in Salt Lake. Although the right-hander has served mainly as a starter over the last two years, he should be a multi-inning relief option in the Angels' bullpen.
JULY 30, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Traded to Angels Toussaint was traded from Atlanta to the Angels in exchange for cash considerations Sunday.
Impact Toussaint was designated for assignment by Atlanta on Saturday, but he'll quickly find a spot on the Angels' 40-man roster. The right-hander was once a prized prospect but will need to prove himself at Triple-A Salt Lake after he posted a 6.26 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in 41.2 innings over 13 appearances (eight starts) in the minors to begin the year.

Designated for assignment Atlanta designated Toussaint for assignment Saturday.
Impact Toussaint was once a big-time prospect, and he showed flashes in the big leagues as recently as last season, but the right-hander has struggled to the tune of a 6.26 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in 41.2 innings for Triple-A Gwinnett this season. The Atlanta front office lost patience, but Toussaint is still just 26 years old, so he may be appealing to another team as a reclamation project.
JULY 2, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Sent back to Triple-A Toussaint was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.
Impact Toussaint spent just two days on the big-league roster and didn't get into a game. He'll head back to Triple-A to await his next chance, a level where he's struck out 16 batters in 8.2 innings across a pair of starts.

Moves up to majors Atlanta recalled Toussaint from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.
Impact Toussaint and Dylan Lee will both join Atlanta in Los Angeles for the second game of the team's series with the Dodgers, giving the bullpen a fresh pair of arms after starter Huascar Ynoa lasted just 3.2 innings in Monday's 7-4 loss. Ynoa was demoted to Gwinnett in a corresponding move, but Toussaint isn't expected to get a look in the rotation in his place. Instead, Atlanta will likely condense from a six-man rotation to a five-man setup, with Kyle Wright and Bryce Elder occupying the back-end spots.

Beginning year at Gwinnett Atlanta optioned Toussaint to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.
Impact According to Jeff Schultz of The Athletic, manager Brian Snitker said that Atlanta didn't have enough innings available for Toussaint at the big-league level, so the right-hander will continue to stay stretched out at Gwinnett to begin the season. He'll likely be one of Atlanta's top internal candidates to step into the MLB rotation should the club lose a starter to injury.

Sent to Triple-A Toussaint (personal) was activated from the bereavement list Sunday and optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Impact Toussaint spent the past few days on the bereavement list following the death of his father, and he'll now make his way to the minors. The 25-year-old has made 10 starts for Atlanta this season but was shifted to the bullpen just before being placed on the bereavement list.

Placed on bereavement list Toussaint was placed on the bereavement list Wednesday.
Impact Toussaint has recently shifted to a bullpen role, and he'll now miss between three and seven games following his placement on the bereavement list due to the recent passing of his father. The team will likely have another bullpen game against the Padres on Sunday, when the fifth spot in Atlanta's rotation comes up again.
SEPTEMBER 22, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Working out of bullpen Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said Toussaint will be available out of the bullpen behind opening pitcher Jesse Chavez in Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, David O'Brien of T...
Impact Snitker didn't explicitly say that Toussaint lost his rotation spot, but that appears to be the implication, given that he hasn't pitched since being tagged for four runs on five hits and three walks in four innings in his last start Sept. 14 versus the Rockies. Toussaint won't necessarily work as a primary pitcher behind Chavez either, as Snitker termed Tuesday's contest as a bullpen day since Atlanta will have its full complement of relievers available. Atlanta will have a need for a fifth starter again Sunday in San Diego, but the early expectation is that the team will get by with another bullpen game rather than reinserting Toussaint into the rotation.
SEPTEMBER 21, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Ineffective once again Tuesday Toussaint (3-3) allowed four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out five over four innings in a loss to the Rockies on Tuesday.
Impact Toussaint pitched a clean first but had some trouble in the second. He started off the inning by allowing a solo home run to Trevor Story and allowed one more run on a walk and a pair of base hits. The 25-year-old righty later allowed another homer, this time a two-run blast by Brendan Rodgers to put the Rockies up 4-2 in the fifth. Toussaint's day ended there and Atlanta was unable to mount the comeback. The former first-round pick in 2014 hasn't pitched more than four innings in either of his last three starts and has given up exactly four earned runs in two of those three outings. He now sits at a 4.50 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 48:22 K:BB over 50 innings this year. He's in line for a tough road matchup against the Giants at the end of the week.
