Soreness delays bullpen session
Gonsolin (shoulder) didn't throw a bullpen session Sunday since he's still experiencing soreness, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
Impact
The 26-year-old is eligible to return from the 10-day injured list Sunday, but manager Dave Roberts said the right-hander is "a ways away" from being activated. Gonsolin landed on the injured list April 4 with right shoulder inflammation and has yet to make his season debut.

Still experiencing soreness
Gonsolin will attempt to throw a bullpen session Sunday but is still dealing with shoulder soreness, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Gonsolin is eligible to come off the 10-day injured list Sunday, but Toribio notes that the right-hander isn't close to returning to game action. Gonsolin has yet to pitch in a regular-season game thus far in 2020 as he has been dealing with the shoulder issue since the start of the campaign. When he does ultimately return, the 26-year-old is expected to fill a multi-inning relief role out of the bullpen.

Tony Gonsolin goes on Dodgers' IL with inflamed shoulder

Heads to IL with inflamed shoulder
The Dodgers placed Gonsolin on the 10-day injured list Sunday with right shoulder inflammation.
Impact
Gonsolin didn't appear in any of the Dodgers' first three games of the season, so his IL stint can be backdated to April 3. According to Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times, manager Dave Roberts said Gonsolin had been dealing with the injury for "the last few days," so the Dodgers will shut him down temporarily with the hope his inflammation calms down. Los Angeles called up Dennis Santana from the taxi squad in a corresponding move.

Starting season in bullpen
Gonsolin will begin the year in a bullpen role for the Dodgers, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Gonsolin battled for a starting spot in Los Angeles' rotation throughout the spring, but an embarrassment of riches has resulted in a relief role for the right-hander. Gonsolin will join Jimmy Nelson and David Price in a multi-inning relief role, giving manager Dave Roberts plenty of weapons at his disposal out of the bullpen.

Bolstering bid for rotation spot
Gonsolin has pitched six scoreless innings over three outings this spring, allowing one hit and no walks while striking out seven.
Impact
Gonsolin has been nearly perfect thus far in Cactus League play as he makes his case to be included in the Dodgers' starting rotation. The right-hander has posted a 2.60 ERA (3.02 FIP) and 0.92 WHIP through 86.2 big-league innings, which would guarantee him a starting role in almost any other big-league rotation. Los Angeles has a wealth of starting pitching talent, so Gonsolin could open the campaign in the bullpen. However, Juan Toribio of MLB.com notes that veteran starter David Price is being looked at as a multi-inning relief option, perhaps opening a door for Gonsolin to start.

Struggles as opener
Gonsolin pitched 1.2 innings Tuesday, allowing one run, three hits and two walks while striking out four in a no-decision against the Rays in Game 6 of the World Series.
Impact
The damage against Gonsolin was done on a solo home run off the bat of Randy Arozarena in the first inning (who else). The 26-year-old threw 30 of his 48 pitches for strikes. The right-hander had a great regular season but was unable to replicate that success in the postseason.
