Impact Upon being recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday, Myers started later that day in Cincinnati but recorded just four outs before being chased from the game after allowing seven runs. He'll wind up making just one turn through the rotation, as the Mets shifted Myers to the bullpen for their weekend series in Philadelphia and called upon him to work in long relief behind starter Freddy Peralta on Saturday. David Peterson will take Myers' spot in the rotation beginning with Sunday's series finale.

Rocked in short start Monday Myers (0-2) took the loss Monday against the Reds, allowing seven runs on four hits and three walks while striking out one over 1.1 innings.

Impact Making his third start of the season, Myers was in trouble almost immediately. He surrendered three runs in the first inning, including a two-run homer by Eugenio Suarez, and things unraveled further in the second. After allowing three consecutive batters to reach, Myers walked JJ Bleday with the bases loaded to force home a run and was removed with one out and the bases still loaded. Reliever Jonathan Pintaro was unable to clean up the mess, allowing all three inherited runners to score as Cincinnati plated six runs in the inning. Myers has now allowed 17 runs over his last 12.2 major-league innings, ballooning his season numbers to a 5.71 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 27:10 K:BB across 34.2 innings.

Set for start Friday Myers will start Friday's contest on the mound versus the Marlins, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Impact Myers will make his second start of the year, and it'll potentially be his first in a traditional starter's role. His previous start came as an opener April 20 against the Cubs, tossing a scoreless frame in the team's loss to Chicago. Myers has posted a 3.41 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with 23 strikeouts over 29 innings in 16 appearances, including a start, with New York so far this season.

Impact The right-hander started 31 games for the Brewers over the prior two seasons before being acquired as part of the Freddy Peralta trade this winter, but Myers has been used almost exclusively out of the bullpen in 2026 and has yet to throw more than 40 pitches in an appearance, and no more than 25 in his last five outings dating back to May 6. The Mets don't have a day off until May 28, however, so they'll need to decide quickly who will plug the hole in the rotation after Holmes was struck by a comebacker Friday and fractured his right fibula. Prospects Jonah Tong and Jack Wenninger are also options, but both have struggled to find the plate on a consistent basis at Triple-A Syracuse.
