Throwing bullpens Houck (elbow) has started throwing two bullpen sessions per week in Fort Myers (Fla.), MLB.com reports.

Impact Houck has begun a ramp-up actiivty and hopes to be able to pitch before the end of the regular season. It's unlikley the Red Sox will use him as a starter, so any rehab assignment would resemble that of a relief pitcher. The right-hander has been sidelined since last August, when he underwent hybrid reconstruction surgery on his right UCL.

Resumes mound work The Red Sox announced June 25 that Houck (elbow) has started light throwing off a mound, MLB.com reports.

Impact The activity represents a step forward in a lengthy recovery process for Houck, who had previously been limited to playing catch off flat ground in his rehab for the UCL reconstruction and flexor tendon repair surgery he underwent Aug. 18, 2025. Houck is hopeful to pitch at some point for the Red Sox in 2026, though he likely won't have enough time to get stretched out for a starting role and will presumably work out of the bullpen if he ends up getting activated from the 60-day injured list.

Mound work coming in June Houck (elbow) has been making 75 throws out to 105 feet three days per week, MLB.com reports.

Impact In addition to the long throwing sessions, Houck is making 30 throws out to 60 feet three days while throwing changeups on those days. The Red Sox are targeting late June for the right-hander to begin mound work. Houck underwent hybrid reconstruction of his right UCL with flexor tendon repair last August.
