Starting rehab assignment Peete (concussion) has been sent to the rookie-level Florida Complex League to begin a rehab assignment.

Impact Peete has been shelved for a little over a month after suffering a concussion at High-A Peoria. He will likely play a handful of rehab contests in the FCL before returning to Peoria, where he has slashed .272/.350/.528 with five home runs, five steals, a 10.7 percent walk rate and 31.4 percent strikeout rate. Peete was acquired from the Mariners over the offseason in the Brendan Donovan trade.

Injury confirmed Peete is dealing with a concussion at High-A Peoria, Geoff Pontes of Baseball America reports.

Impact It appeared Peete injured his hand on a slide May 13, but this latest report clears up the diagnosis. The 20-year-old outfielder has always been young for his levels and was in the midst of his best stretch above rookie ball (117 wRC+) despite a career-high 31.4 percent strikeout rate.

Acquired over the offseason from the Mariners in the Brendan Donovan trade, Peete has offered a mixed bag at Peoria this season, slashing .276/.355/.537 with five homers and five steals but also a 31.9 percent strikeout rate.

Impact Peete actually had only one hit (a double) entering the seventh inning, but he was part of an offensive explosion for Peoria late in the game and completed his cycle in the ninth with a triple. Acquired from the Mariners over the offseason in the Brendan Donovan trade, Peete is slashing .256/.360/.605 with three home runs and one stolen base in his first 10 contests with Peoria. The 20-year-old has a 26 percent strikeout rate, which is high but is down from last year's 30.6 percent mark. Making enough contact will likely be the determining factor in whether Peete reaches his high ceiling.

Traded to St. Louis The Cardinals acquired Peete from the Mariners on Monday as part of a three-team trade involving the Rays, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.

Impact Peete and Jurrangelo Cijntje will head to St. Louis while Ben Williamson is shipped off to Tampa Bay and the headliner of the trade, Brendan Donovan, goes to Seattle. Peete was selected by the Mariners with the 30th pick of the 2023 First-Year Player Draft and spent the entire 2025 season with High-A Everett, where he slashed .213/.285/.401 with 25 steals (in 36 attempts), 57 runs, 24 doubles, 19 home runs and 64 RBI in 530 plate appearances. The 20-year-old outfielder will likely open the 2026 season with High-A Peoria but will have the opportunity to move up within the Cardinals' organization.

Impact Peete, who is playing his first full season in center field, is flirting with a 20/20 season at High-A in his age-19 season (he turned 20 in August). While he has been well below league average (77 wRC+), he has still shown reason to be patient in deeper dynasty leagues. His .283 BABIP is partially to blame for his mediocre slash line, and he encouragingly logged career-high flyball (39.1 percent) and pull (50.2 percent) rates for the AquaSox. Peete will presumably head back to High-A in 2026 with a chance to spend most of the year at Double-A if he can trim this year's 30.9 percent strikeout rate.
