Outrighted to Triple-A Fuentes was outrighted to Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

Impact Fuentes was sent to the minors in mid-September, but he'll now lose his spot on the 40-man roster. The right-hander made seven appearances (five starts) in Rochester during the 2021 campaign and recorded a 19.96 ERA and 3.38 WHIP in 15.1 innings.

Activated and optioned The Nationals reinstated Fuentes (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Monday and optioned him to Triple-A Rochester, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports.

Impact With Fuentes' rehab window coming to a close and the Nationals not having a spot for him on the 28-man active roster, he'll head to Triple-A after completing a five-appearance stint across multiple lower-level affiliates. Fuentes built up to 5.1 innings in his most recent rehab start for Double-A Harrisburg on Friday, so he could slide into a spot in the Rochester rotation.

His outing with Harrisburg was the fourth of his rehab assignment, and his high pitch count suggests that he could be a depth option in the Washington rotation in September.
