INJURIES

Expected to stay in bullpen Miles struck out four and gave up three hits and no walks over 3.2 innings of relief during Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Rays.
Impact After starting in his prior appearance July 17 against the White Sox, Miles received another turn through the Toronto rotation but was deployed out of the bullpen while Braydon Fisher opened the game and recorded the first four outs of the contest. Miles is likely to fill a more traditional relief role moving forward, as Max Scherzer (back/thumb) is slated to return from the 15-day injured list to fill the fifth spot in the rotation Monday in Washington.
5 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Likely to pitch in bulk relief Miles is expected to be used in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Braydon Fisher in Wednesday's game against the Rays, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Impact While serving as a traditional starter the last time his turn in the rotation came up Friday, Miles was lit up for six earned runs on six hits over four innings in a loss to the White Sox. The Blue Jays will hope to coax better results from Miles by deploying him behind Fisher, who will likely cover the first inning or two of Wednesday's contest.
JULY 22 • ROTOWIRE
Knocked around for six runs Miles (4-2) took the loss against the White Sox on Friday, allowing six runs on six hits while striking out four across four innings. He did not issue a walk.
Impact Miles got into early trouble, yielding five runs in the second inning that was capped off by a two-run homer by Sam Antonacci. Miles was tagged for one more run on a bases-clearing double in the fifth, and his five earned runs tied a season high he set against the Orioles on May 31. He figures to have at least one more turn in the rotation, with his next start tentatively slated for next week at home against the Rays. However, that could be Miles' last start if Max Scherzer (back) is cleared to be reinstated from the 15-day injured list.

Blue Jays play the White Sox in first of 3-game series

The Toronto Blue Jays host the Chicago White Sox to begin a three-game series
JULY 17 • Associated Press
Set to make next start Friday Miles will take the mound for the Blue Jays in the team's first game after the All-Star break, at home Friday versus the White Sox, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Impact The rookie right-hander will be followed in the rotation by Shane Bieber, Trey Yesavage, Dylan Cease and Kevin Gausman. Miles has been impressive this season, especially considering his status as a Rule 5 pick, and over his first 60 big-league innings across 26 appearances (three starts) he's produced a 2.85 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 57:19 K:BB. He hasn't tossed more than 55 pitches in an outing since June 6, however, so his workload could be limited Friday. Miles may head back to the bullpen immediately after this start, depending on the progress of Max Scherzer (back).
JULY 16 • ROTOWIRE
Back in bullpen Miles struck out a batter and allowed one hit and two walks over two scoreless innings of relief in Saturday's 8-7 loss to the Padres.
Impact Miles made a four-inning start in his prior appearance July 7 in San Francisco, but he shifted back to the bullpen for the Blue Jays' final series of the first half while the team didn't have a need for a fifth starter. The fifth spot in the rotation will come up again July 21 versus Tampa Bay, but Max Scherzer (back) could be ready to return from the injured list by then to fill the void.
JULY 14 • ROTOWIRE
Goes four innings in no-decision Miles allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out one without walking a batter over four innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Tuesday.
Impact Miles threw 55 pitches (38 strikes) in this outing. He was relatively efficient despite giving up seven hits, and the Giants weren't able to piece much together off him. This performance did end Miles' nine-inning scoreless streak, a span in which he had a 12:3 K:BB. The right-hander is at a 2.95 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 56:17 K:BB through 58 innings over 25 appearances (three starts) this season. Miles and Patrick Corbin currently appear to be working in a tandem, though that could change if Miles continues to stretch out.

Set to start Tuesday Miles will start Tuesday's game against the Giants, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Impact It'll be the third start of the season for Miles, who hasn't pitched since last Wednesday, when he fired three scoreless innings as a bulk reliever to pick up a win against the Mets. The 25-year-old may have trouble pitching deep enough to qualify for a possible victory in San Francisco since he hasn't thrown more than 40 pitches in an appearance since early June, but he should still be able to provide Toronto with a few frames. Patrick Corbin worked behind Miles in that game against the Mets and could do so again Tuesday.

JULY 3 • JAYSJOURNAL.COM
Credited with win Wednesday Miles (4-1) picked up the win in Wednesday's 9-3 rout of the Mets, allowing one hit and one walk over three scoreless relief innings. He struck out five.
Impact Taking over after opener Braydon Fisher had worked a scoreless first frame, Miles fired 34 of 46 pitches for strikes in a dominant performance while the Blue Jays built a 5-0 lead before he left the mound. Miles has been an outstanding find as a Rule 5 pick, and over 54 innings and 24 appearances (two starts) he's produced a 2.83 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 55:17 K:BB. Toronto is being very careful with his workload given his checkered injury history in the minors, but Miles has put himself firmly in the team's 2027 rotation plans.

Could be primary pitcher Wednesday Miles could serve as the Blue Jays' primary pitcher in Wednesday's game against the Mets, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Impact Patrick Corbin had previously been listed as the scheduled start, but he's been moved to the bullpen. Miles' last six appearances have come as a traditional reliever, but he's made a handful of traditional starts or bulk relief appearance this season and could get stretched back out. The 25-year-old holds a 3.00 ERA and 50:16 K:BB over 51 innings for Toronto this season.

Moving out of rotation Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Monday that Miles will shift into a bullpen role during the upcoming week, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Impact Miles had been filling out a back-end spot in the Blue Jays' injury-plagued rotation for the past month, making two starts and four bulk-relief appearances while pitching to a 3.57 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 23:8 K:BB in 22.2 innings. Though the Rule 5 pick acquitted himself well in that capacity, the Blue Jays no longer have room for Miles in their five-man rotation with Dylan Cease (hamstring) and Max Scherzer (forearm) set to return from the 15-day injured list within the next few days.
JUNE 8 • ROTOWIRE
Earns win in bulk relief Miles (3-1) earned the win in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Orioles, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk with five strikeouts over 4.1 innings.
Impact Miles entered in the second inning and allowed a homer to the second batter he faced but was able to settle in for the win, throwing 48 of 73 pitches for strikes and recording five strikeouts despite generating only five whiffs. It was a nice rebound after the 25-year-old surrendered six runs in a starting role Sunday, and he has now yielded two earned runs or fewer while working at least three frames in five of his past six outings. He owns a 3.54 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 39:13 K:BB across 40.2 innings this season, including two starts and 15 relief appearances.
