Alex Wood - Logs four innings Wood allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out two over four innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Tuesday.
Impact A poor opening assignment from Scott Alexander put the Giants behind early, and they never caught up. Wood was responsible for the pair of runs that helped to put the game out of reach, including Brandon Drury's solo home run in the fifth inning. Wood is now at a 4.81 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 55:33 K:BB through 67.1 innings over 18 appearances (11 starts) this season. He's projected for another outing at home versus the Rays next week.
AUGUST 9, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Ryan Walker - Opening Wednesday Walker will serve as the Giants' opener Wednesday against the Angels, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact Walker will be making his eighth start of the season Wednesday. While he hasn't pitched more than three innings in any of his appearances this year, Walker has been effective on the mound with a 2.52 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 41:11 K:BB through 39.1 frames.
AUGUST 9, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Wilmer Flores - Drives in four Flores went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and two additional RBI in Tuesday's loss against the Angels.
Impact Flores accounted for four of the Giants' five runs Tuesday, plating Luis Matos and LaMonte Wade on a third-inning single and swatting a two-run homer off Dominic Leone in the eighth. The outing marked Flores' fourth multi-hit effort in his last five games while the long ball was his fifth in his last 18 appearances. Over that 18-game stretch, Flores is 27-for-67 (.403) with 15 RBI and 12 runs scored while striking out at a 13.3 percent clip.

Scott Alexander - Chased without logging an out Alexander (6-2) took the loss Tuesday, allowing three runs on three hits and did not record an out in a 7-5 loss to the Angels.
Impact Alexander was unable to register an out while serving as the Giants' opener Tuesday, surrendering a double and a pair of singles to his first three batters before quickly being replaced by Jakob Junis. Alexander has failed to complete a full inning in three straight appearances, a stretch in which he's allowed four runs on six hits without logging a single punchout.

AJ Pollock - Exits early Pollock was removed from Tuesday's game against the Angels due to left side discomfort, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Impact There is no word yet on how severe Pollock's injury may be, but the Giants should provide more information following Tuesday's game. The veteran outfielder has gone hitless in four games with the Giants and holds a mere .524 OPS on the season.
AUGUST 9, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Luis Matos - SIts down Tuesday Matos isn't in the Giants' lineup Tuesday against the Angels, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact Matos is just 2-for-19 since the start of August, so a day off Tuesday will give him a chance to regroup. AJ Pollock will take Matos' usual place in center field and bat ninth.
AUGUST 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Patrick Bailey - Not starting Tuesday Bailey isn't in the Giants' lineup Tuesday against the Angels, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact After going 4-for-6 with four RBI and two runs scored over his last two games, Bailey will catch a breather Tuesday. Blake Sabol will take over behind the plate and bat sixth.
AUGUST 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Alex Wood - Likely primary pitcher Tuesday Wood is expected to serve as the Giants' primary pitcher behind opener Scott Alexander in Tuesday's game against the Angels, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact Wood has made his last two appearances as a bulk reliever, tossing three scoreless innings July 26 against the Athletics and 2.2 innings of two-run ball July 31 against the Diamondbacks. Considering he'll be available on seven days' rest, Wood should be capable of handling a heavier workload than he did his previous two times out, though the Giants don't necessarily have a need for him to overextend himself with Sean Manaea and Jakob Junis both relatively fresh and available to cover multiple innings themselves, if needed.

Impact Alex Wood is expected to follow him and handle the majority of the innings. This will be the fifth opener assignment of the year for Alexander, who has registered an overall 3.21 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 18:7 K:BB across 33.2 innings this season with San Francisco.

Patrick Bailey - Delivers go-ahead knock Bailey went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, three RBI and a run scored in Monday's 8-3 win over the Angels.
Impact Bailey opened the scoring with an RBI single in the fourth inning and added a two-run double in the ninth to put the Giants ahead for good. This was his fourth multi-hit effort in his last seven games, a span in which he's gone 7-for-21 (.333). The rookie catcher continues to impress defensively while holding his own with a .262/.307/.414 slash line, five home runs, 35 RBI, 19 runs scored, 15 doubles and a stolen base through 61 contests this season.
AUGUST 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
J.D. Davis - Homers in comeback win Davis went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Monday's 8-3 win over the Angels.
Impact Davis has been just alright in August, going 6-for-22 (.273) over six games this month. The third baseman tied Monday's contest at 2-2 with his solo shot, which was his first homer in his last seven games. For the season, he's up to 15 long balls, 56 RBI, 46 runs scored, a stolen base and 15 doubles through 104 contests.
AUGUST 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Taylor Rogers - Earns sixth win Rogers (6-4) struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the win Monday over the Angels.
Impact Rogers kept the Giants within a run in the eighth inning, and their offense took over in the ninth to rally for the 8-3 win. The southpaw has allowed one unearned run, seven hits and four walks while racking up eight strikeouts over his last 9.1 innings. For the season, he's maintained a 2.52 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 46:19 K:BB with a save and seven holds through 39.1 innings as a key late-inning option in the Giants' steady bullpen.
AUGUST 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Logan Webb - Strikes out six Monday Webb allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits and struck out six without walking a batter over 5.2 innings. He did not factor in the decision Monday versus the Angels.
Impact Webb was solid but faded in the sixth inning. He was in line for the loss when he exited, but J.D. Davis' solo home run in the seventh inning tied the game at 2-2 to get Webb off the hook. The San Francisco ace has shown steady control lately, posting a 34:2 K:BB over 37.1 innings across his last six starts. He's at a 3.38 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 151:25 K:BB through 154.1 innings over 24 starts on the year. Webb is projected for a challenging home start versus the Rangers this weekend.

LaMonte Wade Jr. - Gets day off against southpaw Wade is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels.
Impact Wade will join fellow left-handed hitters Brandon Crawford and Joc Pederson on the bench while the Giants stock up on some extra right-handed bats to counter Angels southpaw Patrick Sandoval. Wilmer Flores will receive the starting nod at first base while Wade ducks out of the lineup.
