Blake Sabol - Garners fourth straight start Sabol will start at catcher and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Rays, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact Sabol went 1-for-8 at the dish while starting each of the past three games in left field, but he'll shift behind the plate Wednesday while No. 1 backstop Patrick Bailey rests in the series finale. The Giants seem content to give Sabol a look as their primary left fielder against right-handed pitching while all of Mike Yastrzemski (hamstring), Mitch Haniger (forearm) and AJ Pollock (oblique) are on the injured list.

Heliot Ramos - Starts, but losing work to Meckler Ramos will start in left field and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Rays, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact Ramos is back in the lineup for the series finale, but he sat in both of the Giants' previous two matchups with right-handed pitchers and may have moved into more of a part-time role in the wake of Wade Meckler's call-up to the big leagues. As a left-handed hitter, Meckler could occupy the large side of a platoon in center field with the righty-hitting Ramos, though the Giants will have room for both players in the outfield Wednesday while Blake Sabol shifts from left field to catcher in place of a resting Patrick Bailey. Ramos is hitting .250 with one home run and a 31.6 percent strikeout rate through his 38 big-league plate appearances this season.

Mitch Haniger - Starting rehab next week Haniger (forearm) is on track to begin a rehab assignment next week, Danny Emerman of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.
Impact Haniger is headed to the Giants' spring training complex in Arizona to continue ramping up his activities and will soon test himself in a game setting. The veteran outfielder has missed more than two months after requiring surgery to repair a fractured right forearm, so he will need a good number of at-bats during his rehab assignment to knock the rust off before being activated from the 60-day injured list.

Ross Stripling - Likely to follow behind opener Stripling is expected to serve as a bulk reliever behind opening pitcher Ryan Walker in Wednesday's game against the Rays, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact The Giants have been relying on just two full-time starters (Logan Webb and Alex Cobb) of late, but Stripling still appears to be a de facto member of the rotation. Stripling's most recent appearance came out of the bullpen Friday, when he tossed five innings and gave up two runs en route to taking a loss against Texas. Assuming he's called upon to work behind Walker, Stripling will be the Giants pitcher most likely to factor into the decision Wednesday.

Impact This was Conforto's fourth straight multi-hit game, and he's supplied an extra-base hit in three of them. The outfielder's surge has him batting .325 in August compared to .251 for the season. Overall, he's at a .758 OPS with 15 home runs, 55 RBI, 52 runs scored, four stolen bases and 12 doubles through 104 contests. As long as his bat is hot, he should maintain a spot in the starting lineup -- he's most often been in right field lately.

Impact Walker turned in a good performance during his last time out as San Francisco's opener Monday, throwing two scoreless innings and striking out four batters. The 27-year-old righty has been extremely effective with a 2.28 ERA through 43.1 innings this season, but he'll likely only remain in the game for the first two or three frames.

Impact Estrada's sixth-inning blast off Zack Littell opened the scoring. Since he returned from a hand injury Aug. 5, Estrada has gone 12-for-42 (.286) with four extra-base hits and six RBI across 10 contests. He's reclaimed a starting role at second base, though he hit ninth Tuesday, just the second time he's been at the bottom of the order. For the year, he's at a solid .274/.326/.434 slash line with 10 long balls, 37 RBI, 48 runs scored and 18 stolen bases through 80 games.

Wilmer Flores - Two-run homer in return Flores went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-0 win over the Rays.
Impact Flores was out Monday with an ear infection, but it turned out to be a short absence for the infielder. He'd cooled off a bit prior to sitting out a game, going 1-for-12 across his last four contests, though he's still been one of the Giants' better hitters in recent weeks. Flores is up to a .300/.356/.542 slash line with 16 homers, 41 RBI, 39 runs scored and 19 doubles through 88 games this season. If he continues to hold down a starting role, he could make a push for his first 20-homer season.

Sean Manaea - Snares win Tuesday Manaea (4-3) allowed a hit and two walks while striking out five over 3.1 shutout innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Rays.
Impact Manaea ultimately served as a piggyback to Jakob Junis, who started and pitched four scoreless innings. With just one run allowed over his last 15 innings (six appearances), Manaea is enjoying one of his best stretches of the season. He's trimmed his ERA to 4.89 with a 1.26 WHIP and 99:31 K:BB through 81 innings over 29 outings (six starts). The Giants continue to have rather fluid roles for many pitchers, including Manaea, who is unlikely to be available again until Sunday at the earliest.

Jakob Junis - Pitches well Tuesday Junis allowed two hits and a walk while striking out seven over four shutout innings Tuesday versus the Rays. He did not factor in the decision.
Impact Junis threw 62 pitches (43 strikes) in a sharp outing, his fourth scoreless appearance in his last five trips to the mound. The right-hander continues to fill a swingman role, something that's suited the Giants well with a number of their pitchers this season. Junis is at a 4.10 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 81:18 K:BB through 68 innings over 32 appearances (two starts). Junis has past experience as a starter, but this was just the second time he's gone four innings all season, so he has a better chance of picking up wins if he's the one pitching behind an opener.

Wade Meckler - Batting second again Tuesday Meckler is again starting in center field and batting second Tuesday against the Rays.
Impact Meckler went 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts in his major-league debut Monday versus Tampa Bay, but the Giants clearly believe he can be an impactful offensive presence at baseball's highest level just 14 months after selecting him in the eighth round of the 2022 MLB Draft. Prior to his sudden call-up, the 23-year-old had posted a stellar .379/.463/.522 batting line in 69 games this summer between High-A Eugene, Double-A Richmond and Triple-A Sacramento.
