Swinging bat in Arizona Taylor (oblique) has been taking light swings and rehabbing at the Padres' spring complex in Arizona, MLB.com reports.
Impact Taylor has been sidelined since early July due to a right oblique strain. His timeline for a return remains unclear, though he'll likely need a minor-league rehab assignment before being activated due to the length of his absence from game action. Taylor had been providing a spark for San Diego prior to getting hurt, slashing .330/.410/.398 with one home run, 11 RBI, 14 runs and six stolen bases over 26 contests.

Managing side injury Taylor said Wednesday that he exited Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks with a right side injury, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Taylor noted that he's day-to-day, so although he'll begin Wednesday's contest on the bench, he doesn't seem to be dealing with a significant injury. The 27-year-old has gone 4-for-12 with a pair of runs scored through his first five games of July, though his playing time has slowly begun to drop recently.
JULY 8 • ROTOWIRE
Sitting third straight Taylor is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.
Impact Taylor is batting .208 (5-for-24) with just one extra-base hit in his past eight contests, and he finds himself on the bench Sunday for the third consecutive game. The Padres have rolled with a starting outfield of Gavin Sheets, Jackson Merrill and Fernando Tatis from left to right in all three contests.
JULY 5 • ROTOWIRE
Resting up Friday Taylor isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers.
Impact Taylor has notched a base hit in each of his last four games, but the Friars will keep him on the bench to begin Friday's contest. Gavin Sheets will start in left field while Taylor sits, putting Manny Machado in the DH spot and Sung-Mun Song at third base.
JULY 3 • ROTOWIRE
Heading to bench Wednesday Taylor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
Impact Taylor will exit the lineup for the first time since June 15, breaking a streak of 13 consecutive starts. Since being called up from Triple-A El Paso on June 3, Taylor has been able to take control of an everyday role in the outfield and of the No. 2 spot in the San Diego lineup by slashing .329/.414/.382 with one home run, six stolen bases, 11 RBI and 12 runs through 21 games. Taylor should remain a strong source of steals while he continues to play regularly, but fantasy managers should plan for a further downturn in his batting average, which has been propped up by a .490 BABIP.
