Accepts assignment to Triple-A Huff accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday after clearing waivers, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.
Impact Huff was booted off the Orioles' 40-man roster this past Monday in order to make room for Yohel Pozo. Huff has opted to stay in the organization and will head to Triple-A, where he is slashing .189/.265/.302 with three home runs and 11 RBI across 117 plate appearances this season.

Cast off 40-man roster The Orioles designated Huff for assignment Monday.
Impact Touted as a bat-first catcher, Huff had been abysmal across 14 games in the big leagues this season, batting just .121 while striking out in 19 of his 34 plate appearances. Though the Orioles remain without their top two backstops in Adley Rutschman (wrist) and Samuel Basallo (shoulder), Huff hadn't produced well enough to justify sticking around in the big leagues. Baltimore recalled recent waiver pickup Yohel Pozo from Double-A Chesapeake in a corresponding move, and he'll join Chadwick Tromp as the team's available options behind the plate until one of Rutschman or Basallo returns.

Losing work to Chadwick Tromp Huff is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.
Impact Huff made consecutive starts behind the dish for the Orioles earlier in the week after Adley Rutschman (wrist) and Samuel Basallo (shoulder) landed on the injured list within two days of one another, but Chadwick Tromp has since supplanted Huff as Baltimore's preferred option behind the plate in the short term. Tromp will start a fourth straight game over Huff, who has gone just 4-for-32 (.125 average) with 19 strikeouts in 13 games with the Orioles this season.

Matt Olson's 3-run homer in the 10th inning lifts the Braves past the Orioles 7-6

Idle for nightcap Huff is out of the lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Red Sox, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Impact Chadwick Tromp will step in behind the plate after Huff started at catcher in the Orioles' 6-3 loss in the first game of the day. With Samuel Basallo (shoulder) joining Adley Rutschman (wrist) on the injured list Wednesday, Huff looks to be the new No. 1 option on the depth chart, but he's provided little reason for fantasy players to rush to the waiver wire to pick him up. Since being called up from Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday, Huff has gone 0-for-8 with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Contract selected by Baltimore Baltimore selected Huff's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday.
Impact After recently being signed to a minor-league deal on July 6, Huff is back with the big-league club. This marks the third time this season that the 28-year-old has had his contract selected by the Orioles. In 23 plate appearances in the majors, Huff has slashed just .174/.174/.261 with no homers and one RBI. Baltimore optioned Cam Sanders to Norfolk to make room for Huff on the active roster and transferred Ryan Helsley to the 60-day IL to make room for him on the 40-man roster.

Returns on minor-league deal Huff signed a minor-league contract with the Orioles on Friday and was assigned to Triple-A Norfolk.
Impact Huff has elected free agency on all three occasions after the Orioles have designated him for assignment this season, only to return to the organization on minor-league pacts. The 28-year-old catcher has logged 102 plate appearances at Norfolk this season, slashing .183/.255/.312 with three home runs.
JULY 6 • ROTOWIRE
Reaches free agency Huff elected to become a free agent Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact Huff cleared waivers after being removed from the Orioles' 40-man roster, but he will become a free agent rather than accept an outright assignment. It's possible he winds up re-signing with Baltimore on a minor-league deal, but Huff can now negotiate with any team.
JULY 2 • ROTOWIRE
Sent outright to Triple-A The Orioles outrighted Huff to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.
Impact Huff passed through waivers unclaimed after being removed from the 40-man roster. He has the ability to elect free agency, but it's unclear whether Huff will exercise that right or accept an outright assignment. If he chooses the latter, he will give the Orioles some experienced catching depth at Norfolk.
JULY 1 • ROTOWIRE
Cast off 40-man roster The Orioles designated Huff for assignment Sunday.
Impact Though Baltimore will keep three catchers on its active roster following Adley Rutschman's (concussion) return from the 7-day injured list Sunday, but Chadwick Tromp will end up sticking as the No. 3 option over Huff. After being called up from Triple-A Norfolk on June 6, Huff appeared in six games for Baltimore and went 2-for-14 with a double and a 0:6 BB:K.

Selected from Triple-A The Orioles selected Huff's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday.
Impact The Orioles will add Huff to the active roster to add some depth behind the plate while Samuel Basallo battles an abdominal injury. Weston Wilson was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
JUNE 6 • ROTOWIRE
Returns to Baltimore organization The Orioles re-signed Huff to a minor-league contract Saturday.
Impact After Baltimore designated him for assignment last week, Huff elected free agency upon clearing waivers, but he quickly worked out a new deal to stick around in the organization. He'll report to Triple-A Norfolk, where he'll share time at catcher with Silas Ardoin and Creed Willems.

Contract selected by Baltimore The Orioles selected Huff's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.
Impact Huff will serve as a third catcher for the Orioles and could see some action against left-handed pitching. The 28-year-old is a career .247/.301/.430 hitter over parts of five big-league seasons and has carried a .438 OPS early on at Norfolk.
