Last Night in Baseball: Giants Beat Dodgers in Back-to-Back Games
Homer, double in win Tuesday Vilade went 2-for-4 with a double, solo homer and one walk in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Blue Jays.
Impact With lefty Patrick Corbin making the start for Toronto, Vilade hit cleanup and made the start in left field. Vilade doubled off Corbin in the fifth before taking struggling reliever Jeff Hoffman deep in the seventh. It was Vilade's first multi-hit game of May after he recorded just three hits in 21 at-bats this month entering Tuesday. Vilade is 13-for-42 (.310) against left-handed pitching this season and is slashing .281/.339/.439 with two homers, 10 RBI, six runs scored, one stolen base and a 5:12 BB:K across 63 trips to the plate in total during the 2026 campaign.

Hitting bench with righty on mound Vilade is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays.
Impact Vilade will retreat to the bench after he had started in each of the last four games, going a collective 2-for-11 with one walk. All of those starts came versus left-handed pitching, but the Rays have yet to show much inclination to give Vilade a full run of playing time against righties.

Blasts second career homer Vilade went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run in Monday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jays.
Impact After Chandler Simpson and Junior Caminero reached base to lead off the game, Vilade provided the early spark, launching a three-run homer off Eric Lauer. The blast was his first of the season and just the second of his MLB career. Vilade has been swinging a hot bat lately, slashing .357/.400/.536 over his last 12 games with two doubles, eight RBI and five runs scored.

Crosses home thrice vs. White Sox Vilade went 3-for-5 with an RBI double and three runs scored during the Rays' 8-5 win over the White Sox on Tuesday.
Impact Vilade put the Rays on the board with an RBI double to left field in the first. He came home to score in the same frame and tallied runs in the third and seventh frames. It was Vilade's first multi-hit game of the season and first since July 14, 2024 as a member of the Tigers. It was just his fourth start of the regular season, but his versatility to play in both the infield and outfield should allow him to see the field fairly often this year.

Makes Opening Day roster Manager Kevin Cash said Saturday that Vilade will be on the Rays' Opening Day roster, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Vilade didn't have a particularly impressive spring, slashing .225/.319/.350 across 47 plate appearances, but he's earned a spot on the Rays' bench as a utility player. The 27-year-old is just 9-for-64 (.141) at the plate in his MLB career and shouldn't be viewed as someone who will make much of an impact in Tampa.
