Undergoing MRI on oblique Gonzalez will undergo an MRI Tuesday after feeling tightness in his right oblique Monday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Impact Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that Gonzalez "feels like there's nothing there" but wanted to get tested as a precaution. Any injury to the oblique is cause for some concern, but at the moment this appears to be more of a day-to-day situation. More will be known about Gonzalez's condition after the MRI results are in. If healthy, Gonzalez will see some starts versus lefties this season for Boston.

Impact Gonzalez took over for Rafael Devers at third base late in Friday's game after Devers left with a shoulder injury. Manager Alex Cora said after Friday's contest that the Red Sox will likely shut down Devers for the season, opening up plenty of playing time for Gonzalez and Nick Sogard at third base to close the season. However, it'll be Gonzalez getting the first stab at third-base work Saturday.
