INJURIES

Works out of bullpen Friday Stock allowed one hit and retired the other batter he faced while working out of the bullpen in Friday's 10-6 win over the Giants.
Impact Following his promotion from Triple-A Syracuse on Aug. 2, Stock started in his first six appearances and submitted a 5.88 ERA and 1.73 WHIP across 26 innings. The Mets' decision to make him available out of the bullpen Friday suggests that he's been dropped from the rotation in favor of Jonah Tong, who will be called up from Triple-A to start Monday in Miami.

Earns first win in seven years Stock (1-3) earned the win Monday against the Rays, allowing five hits while striking out four over 5.1 scoreless innings.
Impact Stock kept Tampa Bay off the board into the sixth inning en route to his first MLB win since 2019. The 5.1-inning effort marked the deepest start of his major-league career and represented a major bounce-back after he surrendered seven runs to Milwaukee in his previous outing. Across six starts for the Mets this season, Stock owns a 5.88 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 25:13 K:BB over 26 innings. He's slated to make his next start Monday against the Marlins.

Tagged for seven runs Stock (0-3) took the loss Wednesday against the Brewers, allowing seven runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out two over four innings.
Impact Stock ran into major trouble in the second inning, allowing six consecutive singles to open the frame as Milwaukee plated four runs. He was hurt again in the fourth when Brice Turang launched a three-run homer, just the second long ball Stock has surrendered in five starts since his call-up. The right-hander has allowed 18 runs (17 earned) across 20.2 innings during that span, though much of that damage came from Wednesday's outing and an eight-run performance against Pittsburgh on August 8. Stock will look to regroup and earn his first win of the season in his next scheduled start Monday against Tampa Bay.

Inefficient in Wednesday's no-decision Stock didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Padres, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out six.
Impact While the 36-year-old right-hander was stingy, he was also inefficient, needing 83 pitches (50 strikes) to record just 13 outs. Stock has failed to complete five innings in three straight starts, walking at least three batters in each, and since joining the Mets' rotation at the beginning of August he's managed a 5.40 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 19:11 K:BB over 16.2 innings. With none of the team's top pitching prospects pitching well in the upper minors, however, Stock's spot is likely more secure than those ratios would suggest. He'll try to last long enough to qualify for a win in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Brewers.

Allows one unearned run Stock allowed an unearned run on three hits and three walks while striking out five over 4.1 innings in Friday's 4-1 win over the Nationals. He didn't factor into the decision.
Impact Stock bounced back nicely after struggling in his previous outing, when he allowed eight runs on nine hits and five walks across three innings in a loss to the Pirates. This time, he kept Washington without an earned run despite dealing with traffic throughout his start. The Nationals scored in the third after Francisco Lindor's error extended the inning, while Stock worked around three walks and three hits before departing with one out and two runners on in the fifth. However, Nate Lavender escaped that jam to keep Stock's line intact. The 36-year-old lowered his ERA to 6.57, though his inability to work deep into games continues to limit his fantasy appeal. If Stock stays in the rotation, he'd make his next start at home against the Padres.

Plundered for eight runs Stock (0-2) took the loss against the Pirates on Saturday, allowing eight runs on nine hits and five walks while striking out four across three innings.
Impact Stock was given the nod to start Saturday after a solid 2026 debut against the Marlins this past Sunday. He could not replicate that success in Pittsburgh, putting the Mets behind early by allowing three runs in the first inning before being tagged for another four runs in the fourth without recording an out in the frame. Given that the Mets traded Clay Holmes and Freddy Peralta at the trade deadline, Stock figures to get at least one or two more turns in the rotation. He's tentatively lined up to face the Nationals at home next weekend.

Receiving another start Stock is listed as the Mets' probable starting pitcher for Saturday's game in Pittsburgh.
Impact The 36-year-old righty will be awarded another turn through the rotation after he he took a loss while holding the Marlins to one run on three hits and no walks while striking out four over five innings in his 2026 MLB debut this past Sunday. With the Mets dealing away Clay Holmes (fibula) on Monday and with prospects Jonah Tong and Jack Wenninger having struggled in their recent starts at Triple-A Syracuse, Stock doesn't appear to be facing any imminent threats to bump him out of the big-league rotation.

Hard-luck loss in season debut Stock (0-1) took the loss Sunday against the Marlins, allowing one run on three hits and no walks in five innings. He struck out four.
Impact The Mets traded away Freddy Peralta earlier Sunday, but Stock filled in admirably during what was his first major-league start since 2021. The journeyman right-hander held Miami scoreless until the fifth inning, with the lone blemish on his line being a Joe Mack solo home run. New York has an open rotation spot now that Peralta has been dealt, and Stock figures to have earned himself another opportunity with the big-league club next week against Pittsburgh.

Making first MLB start since 2021 The Mets selected Stock's contract from Triple-A Syracuse ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Marlins.
Impact Stock, 36, will be making his 2026 MLB debut in what will be his first big-league start since the 2021 season. The journeyman right-hander has staged an incredible comeback from thoracic outlet syndrome, after he experienced symptoms of the nerve condition while pitching for Team Israel in the World Baseball Classic back in March. He was cleared to resume pitching in minor-league games June 19 and moved into the rotation earlier this month at Syracuse, where he allowed just two earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out nine in 7.2 innings between two starts. Stock will now make the jump into the rotation at New York, though his opportunity to stick around in a starting role beyond Sunday will hinge on whether Clay Holmes (fibula) is moved ahead of Monday's trade deadline. Expect Stock to have a limited workload Sunday, as he hasn't thrown more than four innings or 66 pitches in any of his minor-league outings.

Starting for Mets on Sunday Stock is scheduled to start in the Mets' series finale against the Marlins on Sunday, Andrew Tredinnick of The Bergen Record reports.
Impact Stock is in line to make his first major-league appearance since June 8, 2025 as a member of the Red Sox, and it will be his first start in the majors since 2021. He's made two starts for Triple-A Syracuse, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out nine across 7.2 frames. Stock was competing for a spot in the Mets' rotation in spring training before undergoing thoracic outlet syndrome surgery in March.
