Back with Detroit Vanasco signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Thursday.
Impact Just two days after the Tigers released him from his minor-league deal, Vanasco returned to the organization on a new pact. Vanasco made four appearances in the majors in 2024 but has pitched exclusively in the minors in 2025, recording a 4.76 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 28.1 innings between stops at Triple-A Toledo and Single-A Lakeland.

Sent to minors camp The Tigers reassigned Vanasco (hip) to minor-league camp Sunday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Impact Vanasco hadn't made any appearances in the Grapefruit League while he continues to recover from offseason surgery to address a labrum tear in his right hip, so he could be a candidate to open the 2025 season on Toledo's injured list. Before being outrighted off Detroit's 40-man roster in November and re-signing with the organization on a minor-league deal, Vanasco made four relief appearances in the big leagues last season between stops with the Dodgers and Tigers, giving up three earned runs on three hits and no walks over four innings.

Dropped by Detroit The Tigers non-tendered Vanasco on Friday.
Impact Vanasco started the 2024 regular season with the Dodgers, but he was traded to the Tigers on July 29 in exchange for cash considerations. Vanasco logged an impressive 1.06 ERA and 1.24 WHIP over 17 innings in Triple-A Toledo, and he managed to make two major-league appearances with Detroit where he pitched two scoreless innings. Impact Vanasco will fill the spot on the Tigers' 40-man roster that opened up after Detroit traded catcher Carson Kelly to the Rangers on Sunday. The right-hander reached the big leagues for the first time earlier this season with the Dodgers, but he made just two appearances out of the bullpen before being optioned to Triple-A earlier this month and then designated for assignment. Vanasco owns a 3.47 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 27:21 K:BB in 23.1 innings out of the bullpen at the Triple-A level this season.

Vanasco owns a 3.47 ERA and 1.73 WHIP through 23.1 innings in Triple-A on the year, making it possible he attracts some interest on the waiver wire from teams in need of bullpen depth.
