INJURIES

Six strong innings in win Dobnak (3-3) earned the win against the Blue Jays on Sunday, allowing one run on four hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out three.
Impact A solo home run by Josh Smith in the sixth inning left the lone blemish on Dobnak's line in an otherwise excellent performance. The right-hander has been a reliable presence in Kansas City's injury-riddled rotation, giving up more than one run just four times across his 12 outings. He'll take a 2.54 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 43:23 K:BB over 63.2 innings into his next scheduled appearance against the Red Sox.

Hit hard in loss Dobnak (2-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Marlins, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings.
Impact Dobnak threw 54 of 87 pitches for strikes and surrendered homers to Graham Pauley and Kyle Stowers. He came out for the seventh inning but allowed three consecutive hits, resulting in two runs scoring before exiting and another eventually being charged to him. The six runs were his most in any of his 16 MLB appearances since 2021. Across nine starts and two relief appearances this season, Dobnak owns a 2.65 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 40:23 K:BB over 57.2 innings. He's slated to face Toronto in his next trip to the mound.

Suffers defeat in quality start Dobnak (2-2) took the loss against the Blue Jays Wednesday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk over three innings. He struck out five.
Impact Dobnak made one mistake to Nathan Lukes, and gave up a three-run homer for the only runs of the game, to lose his second start of the season. The 31-year-old has pitched well since entering the Royals starting rotation July 18, as he has a 1.92 ERA and 1.37 WHIP, although the 21 walks in 51.2 innings could be cause for concern in the future. The righty is scheduled to throw next week versus the Marlins.

Labors in no-decision Dobnak did not factor into the decision in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Athletics, allowing six hits and four walks while striking out four over four scoreless innings.
Impact Dobnak kept the Athletics off the board despite needing 96 pitches to complete just four innings. The 31-year-old has allowed two earned runs or fewer in eight of his nine outings this season, though he's completed more than five frames just three times. He'll take a 1.58 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 29:20 K:BB across 45.2 innings with the Royals into a road matchup with the Blue Jays next week.

Fans six in no-decision Dobnak allowed four hits and two walks while striking out six over 5.2 scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Saturday.
Impact Dobnak came up an out shy of a quality start, but it was still a good performance. The six strikeouts were a season high for the right-hander, who has been a steadying presence since joining the Royals' rotation in July. He's pitched to a 1.73 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 25:16 K:BB over 41.2 innings across eight games (six starts) so far. That 3.5 BB/9 is a little too high to project Dobnak for success over the course of the rest of the season. His next start is projected to be at home versus the Athletics.

Knocked around in first loss Dobnak (2-1) took the loss against the Cubs on Sunday, allowing four runs on 10 hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out four.
Impact Regression appeared to be looming for Dobnak, who had managed to give up just four runs altogether in his prior six starts (31 innings) despite posting a troubling 15:13 K:BB during that stretch. Sunday marked the third time in his career that he conceded double-digit knocks, and the right-hander has still yet to exceed four strikeouts in an outing this year. Dobnak has a 2.00 ERA across 36 frames, but a 1.33 WHIP and particularly a 19:14 K:BB remain causes for concern going forward.

Sharp in second win Dobnak (2-0) earned the win Tuesday against the Twins, allowing one run on three hits and three walks while striking out one over five innings.
Impact Dobnak surrendered just one hit through the first three innings before allowing a run in the fourth, when he loaded the bases before a sacrifice fly. The veteran right-hander has been especially outstanding for Kansas City lately, allowing only two runs across his last 27 innings. Through all six appearances this season, Dobnak owns a 1.16 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 15:13 K:BB across 31 innings. His next chance to continue his unexpected success this season is scheduled to come Sunday against the Cubs.

AUGUST 4 • Associated Press
Brilliant in first win Dobnak (1-0) earned the win Wednesday against the Twins, allowing no runs on four hits and one walk in seven innings. He struck out four.
Impact It was a season-best showing by Dobnak, who worked his longest outing of the year and set a season high in punchouts. The 31-year-old right-hander has been a serviceable stopgap solution for Kansas City's banged-up rotation, turning in three scoreless appearances so far while giving up no more than two runs in any of his five outings. While his 1.19 WHIP and 14:10 K:BB over 26 innings suggest some regression to his 1.09 ERA is coming, Dobnak should maintain streaming appeal in fantasy leagues in a rematch next week with a Minnesota team that will once again be without All-Star Byron Buxton (hip).
