INJURIES

Converts save Sunday Iglesias (shoulder) allowed a hit and a walk while striking out one over a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 4-2 win over Philadelphia.
Impact Iglesias was deemed unavailable Saturday after sleeping on his shoulder wrong. The issue was not believed to be serious, and while he wasn't all that sharp Sunday, it's a positive sign he was able to get back on the mound. He threw 13 of 21 pitches for strikes in this outing and escaped with his fifth save of the season. The veteran closer has yet to give up a run over 8.2 innings, and the walk he issued Sunday was the first he's given up all season. He's added 11 strikeouts and looks locked in as Atlanta's primary closer, though the team's bullpen has been a strength in general so far with four relievers sporting an ERA under 2.00.

Unavailable Saturday Iglesias was not available to pitch Saturday due to shoulder discomfort, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Impact The positive news is that the injury isn't related to throwing, as Iglesias slept on his shoulder wrong. He could be available Sunday, though his status still isn't very clear. Robert Suarez picked up a save Saturday night in Iglesias's absence.

Slams door for fourth save Iglesias picked up the save Wednesday against the Marlins, allowing one hit and no walks in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out three.
Impact The veteran right-hander pounded the zone Wednesday, with just one of his 12 pitches landing for a ball. Iglesias continues to show no signs of slowing down in his age-36 campaign -- he's up to 7.2 shutout innings so far to go with a 10:0 K:BB and four saves in as many opportunities. As long as he continues to deal, Iglesias should remain locked in as Atlanta's primary closer over Robert Suarez.

Collects third save of 2026 Iglesias earned the save against the Marlins on Tuesday, striking out two batters in a perfect ninth inning.
Impact Atlanta's three-run eighth inning gave the team a 6-5 lead heading to the ninth, prompting the call for Iglesias to close things out. He needed just 10 pitches (seven strikes) to secure the win for his team, striking out the first two batters he faced before getting Graham Pauley to fly out to center field. Iglesias has collected a save in three of his last four outings and has yet to yield a run across 6.2 innings this season.

Goes 1.2 innings for save Iglesias earned a save against the Angels on Tuesday, allowing two hits and striking out three batters over 1.2 scoreless innings.
Impact Iglesias got the call in the eighth inning with Atlanta up 5-2 and the tying run at the plate for the Angels with one out. He struck out both Logan O'Hoppe and Travis d'Arnaud to escape the jam, then returned for the ninth after Atlanta plated two more runs. Iglesias notched a third straight strikeout to begin that ninth frame before giving up consecutive singles, and he was able to end the game by inducing a double-play grounder. For Iglesias to complete more than one inning was pretty unusual -- it was the first time he's done so during the regular season since September of 2024. With Robert Suarez around as his setup man, Iglesias doesn't figure to pitch more than one frame frequently, but his fantasy managers are certainly glad he was able to do so Tuesday since it resulted in his second save of the season.

Secures first save Iglesias pitched a perfect inning to earn the save in Friday's 2-0 win over Arizona.
Impact Iglesias came away with his first save of the season after he protected the two-run lead Atlanta established in the top of the ninth inning. The 36-year-old has allowed just one hit over three innings, though he's struck out only one batter and walked none so far. Osvaldo Bido had Atlanta's only other save prior to Friday, but that was a three-inning one. Iglesias is the favorite for the traditional closer role early in the year, though Robert Suarez is also an experienced option after primarily working the ninth inning with the Padres over the previous two seasons.

Clean inning in 2026 debut Iglesias worked a scoreless ninth inning in Monday's 4-0 win over the A's. He didn't record a walk or a strikeout
Impact Atlanta hasn't produce a save situation yet for Iglesias, but he looked good in his first action of 2026, tossing seven of eight pitches for strikes while reaching 94.5 mph with his fastball, and the only A's hitter to reach base against him did so thanks to a Mauricio Dubon error, which quickly got erased by a double play. Iglesias has averaged 32 saves for Atlanta over the last three seasons and should have plenty of job security as closer, but if he does falter, Robert Suarez stands as a ready replacement in the ninth.

Fans two in perfect frame Iglesias struck out two in a perfect fifth inning during Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Yankees.
Impact The veteran closer fanned minor leaguers Jonathan Ornelas and Ernesto Martinez while firing 10 of his 11 pitches for strikes. Iglesias has a 3.00 ERA and 3:0 K:BB in three spring innings as he gets ready for Opening Day, but unlike 2025, he may not be able to afford a slow start to the season and still keep his job with Robert Suarez now in the Atlanta bullpen. Iglesias held a 6.00 ERA as late as June 17 last year, but after that point he posted a 1.34 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 44:10 K:BB over his last 40.1 innings while converting 21 of 22 save chances.
