Impact Poulin will draw his eighth start of the season, and just like on the previous seven occasions, he's expected to cover no more than two innings before exiting the game. Miles Mikolas is slated to work in bulk relief behind Poulin.

Impact Poulin will return to Washington's bullpen after giving up three earned runs in five innings since his demotion to Triple-A in late May. The 29-year-old southpaw owns a 3.28 ERA and 1.46 WHIP through 24.2 frames with the Nationals this season and will presumably work in middle relief as long as he's with the big club.

Impact For the seventh time this season, Poulin served as an opener for Washington during Wednesday's contest. Washington didn't announce a corresponding transaction but will add another player to the active roster as a replacement Poulin prior to Friday's game against the Padres.

Impact Poulin has been deployed in a variety of roles for the Nationals this season and is one of seven relievers on the roster to notch a save. However, while he's managed a 2.91 ERA, a 16:14 K:BB over 21.2 innings is less appetizing. Clayton Beeter (forearm) is expected to come off the injured list Thursday in a corresponding move.

Picks up second save Poulin gave up an unearned run on a hit and a walk in the 10th inning Wednesday to record his second save of the season in an 8-7 win over the Reds. He struck out one.

Impact Gus Varland worked a scoreless ninth to get the game to extras, and while Poulin did allow the phantom runner to score in the bottom of the 10th, his two-run cushion proved to be enough.
