INJURIES

Cut loose by Guardians Diehl was released by the Guardians on Wednesday.
Impact Diehl has spent all of 2023 at Triple-A Columbus, where he posted a 6.89 ERA and 35:20 K:BB over 32.2 innings. The lefty has had gaudy strikeout totals at times in the minors but has managed just a 9.47 ERA and 15:6 K:BB over 19 frames at the major-league level.

Testing free agency Diehl elected free agency Sunday.
Impact Diehl made five relief appearances with the Reds earlier in 2022, but he never made it to the big leagues after May and was dealt to the Mets in July. Over his 16.1 innings at Triple-A Syracuse in the Mets organization, Diehl posted an 8.82 ERA and 1.99 WHIP.

Dealt to Mets Diehl and Tyler Naquin were traded from the Reds to the Mets on Thursday in exchange for Jose Acuna and Hector Rodriguez, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Impact Diehl began the season pitching out of the big-league bullpen for Cincinnati but was designated for assignment after allowing seven earned runs across his first 5.2 innings. He has pitched with Triple-A Louisville since, but he may have the opportunity to work low-leverage innings with the Mets.
JULY 29, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Outrighted to Triple-A Diehl cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
Impact Diehl was designated for assignment by Cincinnati on Monday, but he'll remain in the organization after losing his spot on the 40-man roster. The 27-year-old has posted a 2.73 ERA and 0.91 WHIP in 62.2 innings over 66 appearances in Louisville over the last two seasons.
MAY 12, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Scrubbed from 40-man roster The Reds designated Diehl for assignment Monday.
Impact He'll end up losing his spot on both the Reds' 40-man roster and 26-man active roster with Cincinnati needing an opening on the latter for Luis Castillo (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in advance of his start Monday against the Brewers. During his nearly two-week stint with the big club, Diehl appeared in five games out of the bullpen and gave up seven earned runs on eight hits and three walks over 5.2 innings.

Stays in organization The Reds outrighted Diehl to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Diehl remains in the organization after he went unclaimed off waivers when the Reds designated him for assignment over the weekend. His lack of a 40-man roster spot will likely hurt the reliever's chances of surfacing with the big club at any point in the near future.
MAY 4, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
DFA'd by Cincinnati Diehl was designated for assignment by the Reds on Sunday.
Impact The 26-year-old was claimed off waivers by the Reds in mid-May but was removed from the 40-man roster without appearing in the majors. Diehl made 16 appearances for the Rockies between 2019 and 2020, and he posted an 8.78 ERA over 13.1 innings.

Claimed by Reds Diehl was claimed off waivers by the Reds on Wednesday.
Impact Diehl was designated for assignment by the Rockies on Saturday, and he'll now report to the Reds' alternate training site. The southpaw allowed eight runs in 5.2 innings this spring and is unlikely to have a high-leverage role for his new team this year. Michael Lorenzen (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list to make room for Diehl on the 40-man roster.

Cast off 40-man roster Diehl was designated for assignment by the Rockies on Saturday.
Impact Diehl was sent to Triple-A Albuquerque ahead of the regular season after he allowed eight runs in 5.2 innings this spring. He'll now be removed from the 40-man roster to make room for infielder Alan Trejo, whose contract was selected by the Rockies in a corresponding move. Even if Diehl is claimed on waivers, he's unlikely to have a high-leverage role in the majors this year.
APRIL 10, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Optioned to Triple-A Diehl was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.
Impact Diehl was in the mix for a bullpen spot but didn't do much to state his case this spring, allowing eight runs in 5.2 innings of work. Those struggles are in line with his performances thus far in his 13.1-innings major-league career, as he owns an 8.78 ERA at the highest level. If he returns to the big leagues later this season, it will come in a low-leverage role.
MARCH 22, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Struggles against Padres Diehl allowed three runs on three hits and no walks while striking out one over one inning in Wednesday's spring win over the Padres.
Impact Diehl put runners on first and second base to begin the fifth inning Wednesday but forced a double play. However, he gave up a two-run home run with two outs in the frame to tie the game before ending the inning with a strikeout. The southpaw has been quite inconsistent over his first four Cactus League outings and has allowed eight runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out four across 3.2 innings. However, Diehl will likely serve as a low-leverage reliever for Colorado to begin the regular season.
MARCH 11, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Optioned to alternate camp Diehl was optioned to the Rockies' alternate training site Tuesday.
Impact Diehl had inconsistent results while pitching in lower-leverage situations with the Rockies, and he'll be sent to the team's alternate training site to make room for Kevin Pillar on the active roster. Diehl has made six appearances in the majors this year, posting a 10.50 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over six innings.

AUGUST 8, 2020 • Associated Press
Makes season debut Monday Diehl allowed one run on one hit and no walks while striking out two over 1.1 innings in Monday's win against the Giants. He didn't factor into the decision.
Impact Diehl made his season debut in the fourth inning of Monday's contest after Chi Chi Gonzalez struggled to limit run production to begin the game. The southpaw was clean for a full inning but gave up a solo home run to Alex Dickerson with one out in the fifth inning, resulting in his removal from the game. Despite Diehl's blemish during his relief appearance Monday, it's encouraging to see him take the mound. He wasn't needed over the team's first eight games this season and is likely to pitch mainly in low-leverage situations in 2020.
AUGUST 4, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Unavailable for start of camp Blackmon (illness) won't be available for the Rockies when camp starts Saturday, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.
Impact Blackmon tested positive for COVID-19 in late June along with teammates Phillip Diehl and Ryan Castellani, but he apparently hasn't cleared the league's protocol and won't be able to join the team for the start of camp. It's unclear whether he is still showing symptoms or how much extra time he'll need to recover.
