Jesus Luzardo - Fans six in five strong innings Luzardo took a no-decision Sunday against the Mets, allowing one run on four hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out six.

Impact Luzardo mostly cruised through four scoreless innings to begin the afternoon, but the Mets were able to scratch a run across during the fifth frame. Sunday also marked four consecutive starts with two earned runs allowed or fewer for the hard-throwing southpaw, who has also accomplished this feat in eight of his last nine outings. Luzardo will take a 3.88 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 116:33 K:BB over 97.1 innings into his next scheduled start against the lowly Royals.

Kodai Senga - Promising results as long reliever Senga (0-7) took the loss Sunday against the Rays, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk in five innings of relief. He struck out four.

Impact The Mets elected to roll with the struggling Senga as a bulk reliever for the first time in his major-league career, and the decision may have helped yield one of the hurler's better outings of the season. The 33-year-old right-hander still hasn't permitted fewer than two runs in any appearance, but Sunday marked just the third time this year that he completed at least five frames. Still searching for win No. 1, Senga will carry a woeful 9.09 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 38:23 K:BB across 32.2 innings into his next scheduled outing in Atlanta.

Clay Holmes - Nearing mound work Holmes (fibula) has been throwing on flat ground and is expected to progress to mound work next week, Chelsea Janes of SNY.tv reports.

Impact The veteran right-hander underwent a follow-up X-ray last week that came back clean, clearing the way for him to ramp up his rehab work after recovering from a fractured right fibula. Holmes will now need some time to build his arm back up and is likely looking at a return in late July or early August.
