Shane Baz - Nearing throwing program Baz (elbow) is on track to begin a throwing program in 3-4 weeks, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Baz reported to Rays camp this week as he continues the long road back from last September's Tommy John surgery. Obviously, he's not going to be an option for Tampa Bay this season, but the hope will be for him to be ready to roll by 2024.

Calvin Faucher - Nearing mound work Faucher (oblique) is expected to be cleared to throw off a mound soon, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Faucher has stretched out his flat-ground throwing to 120 feet and is almost ready to take the mound the next time he throws. Assuming the reliever is able to continue progressing with no setbacks, the Rays anticipate him being ready to go for Opening Day.

Taylor Walls - Resume baseball activities Walls (oblique) resumed light baseball activities Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Walls has been dealing with a strained oblique since the start of camp but is "progressing well," Rays manager Kevin Cash said Thursday. It sounds like he probably has a ways to go before being cleared for game action, though.

Nick Gordon - Exits early with injury Gordon exited Friday's spring training game against Boston after awkwardly falling down during a throw to first base, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Impact Gordon had to be helped off the field by an athletic trainer and appeared to be in a bit of pain. There's no word yet on the specifics or severity of his injury.

Yandy Díaz - Sidelined by hip flexor injury Diaz is expected to be held out of Grapefruit League action until at least next Thursday due to a hip flexor injury, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact It's not clear when Diaz suffered the injury, but he hasn't played since Monday and is in line to miss several more days. It doesn't at this point appear to be anything that could prevent him from being available for Opening Day. Diaz is slated to mostly play first base this season for the Rays.

Jose Miranda - Could be limited to 1B/DH initially Miranda could be limited to first base and designated hitter at the start of the season if his right shoulder soreness hasn't totally subsided by then, Aaron Gleeman of The Athleti...
Impact Miranda is slated to handle the hot corner in 2023 after spending most of 2022 at first base, but it's possible those plans could be put on hold for a bit. It would make sense for the Twins to exercise caution here, especially if Alex Kirilloff (wrist) isn't quite ready. Miranda has played three games this spring, all out of the DH spot. If he's not able to play third base initially, it could open up starts at the hot corner for Donovan Solano, Kyle Farmer, Nick Gordon and Willi Castro.
