Billy Carlson - Suffers fractured thumb Carlson is expected to be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks after suffering a non-displaced fracture of the tip of his left thumb, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Impact Carlson sustained the injury May 23 while playing at Single-A Kannapolis. His thumb will be placed in a splint initially while he allows the fracture to heal. The No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft, the 19-year-old Carlson has slashed .257/.386/.340 with no home runs, eight stolen bases and a 27:45 BB:K over his first 39 pro games.

Chicago White Sox: Munetaka Murakami's Electric MLB Start By The Numbers
Noah Schultz - Lands on IL with knee tendinitis The White Sox placed Schultz on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to right knee patellar tendinitis.
Impact The injury isn't an unfamiliar concern for Schultz, who spent most of the second half of the 2025 season on the shelf at Triple-A Charlotte due to the same issue. The White Sox haven't offered word yet on the severity of Schultz's latest flareup of patellar tendinitis, making it difficult to forecast how long he might be shelved. Chicago recalled right-hander David Sandlin from Triple-A in a corresponding move, and he'll step into Schultz's spot in the rotation Wednesday versus the Twins in what will be the former MLB's debut. Through his first eight starts with Chicago since being called up from the minors in mid-April, Schultz went 2-4 with a 5.82 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 33:22 K:BB in 38.2 innings.

David Sandlin - Entering rotation Wednesday The White Sox selected Sandlin's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.
Impact Chicago placed Noah Schultz (knee) on the 15-day injured list in the corresponding move, and the White Sox intend to have Sandlin replace him in the rotation beginning with Wednesday's game against the Twins at Rate Field, per James Fegan of SoxMachine.com. Acquired from the Red Sox during the offseason, Sandlin's organizational debut was delayed until late April while he recovered from a sore elbow, but he was highly productive over a four-start stretch at Charlotte (0.75 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB in 12 innings). Sandlin didn't cover more than four innings in any of those starts, however, so he'll likely be limited from a workload standpoint Wednesday in his MLB debut.
