Impact Andujar was struck by a Lucas Erceg pitch during Sunday's win over the Royals. He remained in that contest, but subsequent testing revealed a fracture. The Padres have not revealed a timetable for Andujar, but he will likely be sideline at least 4-to-6 weeks. With Andujar shelved, the Padres could utilize Manny Machado in the designated hitter spot and Sung-Mun Song at third base.

Impact Andujar recorded his second game with three doubles in his past four games on Friday against Kansas City. The 31-year-old was able to drive in Jake Cronenworth on an RBI double in the top of the 10th to give the Padres the lead, 4-3. On the season, Andujar has slashed .268/.307/.437 with 20 doubles in 244 plate appearances.

Impact After a run of three consecutive starts against right-handed pitchers during which he went 3-for-9 with three doubles, a walk, two runs and two RBI, Andujar has now been left on the bench for the Padres' ensuing two contests, both of which have also come against righties. The 31-year-old may have to settle for a short-side platoon role while the Padres are seemingly prioritizing Ty France and Sung-Mun Song ahead of him in matchups versus righties.

Impact Andujar has struggled for playing time lately, though he was able to get into the lineup as the designated hitter Wednesday while Manny Machado (foot) and Ty France sat out. Over his last 10 games, Andujar has gone 11-for-27 (.407) with four RBI and five doubles. He's batting .266 with a .731 OPS on the season while adding five home runs, 21 RBI, 21 runs scored, 17 doubles, two triples and two stolen bases over 234 plate appearances. Andujar has previous experience in the outfield, but it doesn't look like he's in consideration yet to absorb at-bats in left field while Samad Taylor (oblique) is out -- Jase Bowen got the start there in this contest and could occupy a platoon role alongside Gavin Sheets at the position.

Impact Andujar started each of the last four games -- twice against lefties, twice against righties -- and went 6-for-14 with two doubles, one walk and one run. He should remain a regular presence in the lineup versus southpaws, but Andujar may have to settle for a part-time role against righties while the Padres seem to prioritizing Ty France over him for the final spot in the everyday lineup.
