Designated for assignment Adolfo was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Thursday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Impact Adolfo is a fairly interesting prospect, but his strikeout issues may have convinced the White Sox he wasn't worth keeping around. In 101 games split across the two highest minor-league levels last season, he whiffed 34.1 percent of the time, so it's likely he'd strike out at an untenable rate against big-league pitching. He's a decent candidate to be claimed off waivers, however, as he managed a .245/.311/.520 slash line (good for a 121 wRC+) despite all those strikeouts.

Moves on to Triple-A The White Sox promoted Adolfo from Double-A Birmingham to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.

Impact Adolfo will reach Triple-A for the first time after he posted a solid .843 OPS in 242 plate appearances for Birmingham. The 24-year-old still has a high amount of swing and miss in his game (35.1 percent strikeout rate at Double-A), which may hurt his chances of finding success against advanced pitching at Triple-A and the majors.
