Sosa and Vargas homer to lead White Sox to a rain-shortened 3-0 win over the Twins

Lenyn Sosa and Miguel Vargas homered as the Chicago White Sox beat the Minnesota Twins 3-0 in a game that was shortened to seven innings because of rain

Losing out on playing time Taylor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.
Impact Since Andrew Benintendi returned from the 10-day injured list last Thursday, Taylor has faded into more of a part-time role in the Chicago outfield. He'll be on the bench Wednesday for the third time in the last four games.
APRIL 23 • ROTOWIRE
On bench Wednesday Taylor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.
Impact Taylor will take a seat after he had drawn starts in the outfield in each of the last six games, with five coming in left field. Brooks Baldwin will man left field Wednesday, but Taylor could settle in as the primary option at the position while Andrew Benintendi (adductor) is on the injured list.
APRIL 16 • ROTOWIRE
Getting regular run in outfield Taylor will start in left field and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
Impact Taylor will pick up a fifth straight start Sunday and looks like he'll be in line for a near-everyday role in the outfield while both Andrew Benintendi (adductor) and Mike Tauchman (hamstring) are on the shelf. The 34-year-old heads into the series finale with a .222/.276/.370 slash line to go with one home run and two stolen bases over 29 plate appearances so far this season.
APRIL 13 • ROTOWIRE
Strong effort at plate Taylor went 3-for-5 with a double, a stolen base and three runs scored in Friday's 11-1 win over the Red Sox.
Impact Taylor's playing time could be in line for a boost after Mike Tauchman (hamstring) landed on the injured list Thursday. Taylor started in center field Thursday and moved to left for Friday's game with Luis Robert coming back into the lineup after a day off. Taylor's glove is good enough to keep him in the lineup, and he'll add a bit of speed when he plays as well. He's already got two steals over 10 contests this season while batting .250 (6-for-24) with a home run, two RBI and six runs scored across 26 plate appearances.

Taylor gets 3 hits as the White Sox stop 8-game slide by routing the Red Sox 11-1

Blasts first homer of 2025 Taylor went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 9-0 win over the Twins.
Impact Taylor logged his first homer of the season Monday when he took Chris Paddack deep to center field for a two-run shot. It was Taylor's second start in four games in left field, and he is expected to serve in a reserve role in the outfield this season, though his starting opportunities will dwindle once Mike Tauchman (hamstring) returns from the 10-day injured list.

Resting Saturday Taylor isn't in the lineup Saturday against the Angels.
Impact Taylor went 1-for-3 with a run scored in a win over Los Angeles on Thursday but will take a seat Saturday against right-hander Jose Soriano. Luis Robert will fill the vacancy in center field while Nick Maton serves as Chicago's designated hitter, batting fifth.
MARCH 29 • ROTOWIRE
Good to go Friday Taylor (elbow) is starting in left field and batting eighth in Friday's Cactus League game against the Cubs.
Impact The veteran outfielder was sidelined nearly a week due to right elbow inflammation but is ready to retake the field for Friday's spring contest. Luis Robert is locked in as the White Sox's primary center fielder, but Taylor should still see semi-regular starts thanks to his elite defense while Robert gets some run as a designated hitter.
MARCH 7 • ROTOWIRE
Expected back later this week White Sox manager Will Venable said Sunday that Taylor (elbow) is expected to return to Cactus League play before the end of this week, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Impact Taylor had to be scratched from Saturday's lineup due to right elbow inflammation and it sounds like he'll need a couple more days of rest before getting back into games. The 33-year-old projects to be a reserve outfielder for the White Sox this season, although Andrew Benintendi's (hand) impending injured list stint could lead to increased reps for Taylor early on.
MARCH 3 • ROTOWIRE
Scratched Saturday Taylor was scratched from the lineup ahead of Saturday's Cactus League game versus Seattle due to right elbow inflammation, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Impact The severity of Taylor's injury isn't immediately clear, though the White Sox will likely offer more information on his condition at some point. In the meantime, Wilfred Veras will step in to play right field while batting ninth.

Lands in Windy City Taylor signed a contract with the White Sox on Tuesday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Impact The 33-year-old Taylor is coming off the worst season of his career at the plate, during which he slashed .193/.253/.290 with five homers, 21 RBI and 12 stolen bases across 300 plate appearances with the Pirates. That being said, he remains one of the better defensive center fielders in the majors and could still receive regular playing time with the White Sox, which would likely cause Luis Robert to work as a DH more often.
FEBRUARY 11 • ROTOWIRE
Released by Pittsburgh The Pirates released Taylor on Wednesday.
Impact Taylor was booted from the 40-man roster earlier this week and has now been cut loose. The veteran outfielder will head into free agency after hitting just .193/.253/.290 over 300 plate appearances for the Pirates this season.

Designated for assignment The Pirates designated Taylor for assignment Tuesday.
Impact Taylor had started just one of the previous 13 games and will finish the year slashing only .193/.253/.290 over 300 plate appearances. The 33-year-old's roster spot will be absorbed by Joshua Palacios.
SEPTEMBER 24, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Breaks homer drought Taylor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Sunday against the Nationals.
Impact Taylor has started consecutive games with lefties on the mound, though he hasn't been in the lineup against a right-hander since Aug. 25. He did manage to pop his fifth home run of the season and first since July 30 with lefty Patrick Corbin on the mound Sunday.
SEPTEMBER 9, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Shifting back to bench role Taylor will start in center field and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Guardians.
Impact Though he'll enter the lineup for the series finale, Taylor didn't start in any of the previous three contests and looks like he'll operate mainly as a fourth or fifth outfielder moving forward. With Andrew McCutchen returning from the injured list Friday and taking back primary duties at designated hitter, Oneil Cruz is now likely to see the bulk of his starts in center field moving forward, closing off Taylor's main path to playing time.

Still on roster, starting Tuesday Taylor will start in center field and bat eighth in Monday's game versus the Cubs.
Impact Taylor was placed on outright waivers Sunday, but he went unclaimed and will remain on the Pirates' active roster for the time being. Oneil Cruz's move to center field for Pittsburgh is imminent, but he will serve as the designated hitter for the second game in a row Tuesday while Taylor patrols center field.
AUGUST 27, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Placed on waivers The Pirates placed Taylor on outright waivers on Sunday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Impact Taylor will now be available to be claimed by the 29 other teams in the league, though he may not have many suitors based on his .196/.257/.284 slash line over 250 at-bats in 100 games with the Pirates this season. If he goes unclaimed on waivers, the outfieler will either report to Triple-A Indianapolis or be released outright.
AUGUST 25, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Absent from lineup again Taylor is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Cincinnati.
Impact Taylor has struck out in 11 of his last 18 plate appearances, and he will sit for a second straight game. Ji Hwan Bae will start in center field and bat ninth.
