Inks MiLB pact with Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks signed Perez to a minor-league contract Monday.
Impact

Thriving with new organization
Perez, who signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on July 31, is slashing .500/.556/.733 with five-extra base hits through his first eight games with Triple-A Reno.
Impact
Arizona brought Perez aboard in late July with the expectation that he would provide catching depth to the upper levels of the minors, but a promotion to the big leagues isn't out of the question while the Diamondbacks' top backstop, Gabriel Moreno (adductor) remains on the injured list without a definitive return date. For now, the Diamondbacks have been leaning on prospect Adrian Del Castillo as their new No. 1 catcher and have gotten strong results from him thus far, but if he or backup Jose Herrera were to fall victim to an injury, Perez or Andrew Knizner could be next in line for a call-up.

The 31-year-old backstop is slashing .221/.294/.325 with 13 RBI across 85 plate appearances with Triple-A Norfolk so far this season.

Recalled from Syracuse
The Mets recalled Perez from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday.
Impact
Perez will come up from the majors to give the Mets a bench bat as Brandon Nimmo (shoulder) lands on the injured list. Perez played two games with the Mets in May, going 4-for-7 with a run scored. With Francisco Alvarez and Omar Narvaez already on the big-league roster, Perez's chances of starting one of New York's final two games are low.
