Moves past neck issue
Arroyo (neck) is listed as an available bench bat Wednesday for the Mariners' Double-A game on the back fields of camp, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Impact
Arroyo had received an invitation to big-league spring training and went 3-for-10 with a home run and five walks over six Cactus League games, but he hadn't appeared since being scratched from the lineup ahead of Friday's matchup with the Dodgers after experiencing neck spasms. The 21-year-old seems to have since moved past the issue, but with spring training winding down, Arroyo looks like he'll be in line for action on the back fields for the rest of camp. Arroyo is expected to open the season at Double-A Arkansas.

Dealing with neck spasms
Arroyo was scratched from the Mariners' lineup for Friday's Cactus League game against the Dodgers due to neck spasms, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Impact
Arroyo was slated to start at second base and bat seventh in Friday's game before his injury flared up, and the Mariners should provide an update over the next couple of days once the 21-year-old undergoes further tests. Arroyo ended the 2025 season with Double-A Arkansas, where he slashed .255/.376/.341 with nine steals (on 12 attempts), two home runs and 15 RBI in 250 plate appearances.

Homers in spring opener
Arroyo started at second base and went 2-for-2 with a two-run homer and a double in Friday's Cactus League opener against the Padres.
Impact
Arroyo drove an opposite-field homer off a two-strike pitch from Jagger Haynes in the second inning, giving the Mariners an early 2-0 lead. It was reported earlier in the offseason that Arroyo would transition to the outfield, though he ultimately got the start at second base in Seattle's spring-training opener. While it remains to be seen where Arroyo will fit in the field long term, his major-league future will ultimately come down to his bat. Arroyo, a top-70 prospect per MLB Pipeline, slashed .262/.401/.433 with 17 home runs across 556 plate appearances between High-A and Double-A last year.

Moving to left field
Arroyo will begin transitioning from second base to left field this month during the Columbian Winter League, Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reports.
Impact
Arroyo played second base exclusively in 2025 between High-A Everett and Double-A Arkansas, where he slashed .262/.401/.433 with 17 homers and 12 steals. He has never played the outfield before, but with the Mariners' infield depth, the organization has elected to move the 21-year-old to left field. Arroyo could push to debut at some point during the 2026 season.

Promoted to Double-A
Arroyo has been promoted from High-A Everett to Double-A Arkansas, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.
Impact
Arroyo will be bumped up a level after slashing .269/.422/.512 with 15 home runs and three stolen bases over 65 contests with Everett, which includes a .309/.454/.599batting line since the start of May. He will play the entirety of the 2025 season at just 20 years of age, but Arroyo appears ready to be tested in the Texas League.

Cut from big-league camp
The Mariners reassigned Arroyo to minor-league camp Monday.
Impact
Arroyo saw action in nine Cactus League games this spring, going 2-for-11 at the dish, but the top prospect was always destined to return to the minors to start the 2025 campaign. A 20-year-old infielder, Arroyo slashed .285/.400/.509 with 23 homers and 18 stolen bases between Single-A Modesto and High-A Everett in 2024. He could moved up to Double-A Arkansas in 2025.

On hitting rampage at Single-A
Arroyo is hitting .361 with one home run, six doubles and a 3:6 K:BB in nine games with Single-A Modesto.
Impact
Arroyo, who opened the year as one of the top prospects in the Arizona Complex League, hit .636 with one strikeout in his first four ACL games before getting promoted to Single-A on June 13. He is a hit-over-power middle infielder, but Arroyo is ahead of schedule in the power department, as he has a .723 slugging percentage in a small sample across the two levels.
