Moved to 60-day IL
The Nationals transferred Kranick (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Monday.
Impact
The move opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for Carson Palmquist, whom the Nationals optioned to Triple-A after acquiring him from the Rockies on Monday. Kranick signed a one-year deal with the Nationals in early May and continues to recover from flexor tendon surgery that he underwent in July of 2025. His move means the earliest he can be activated off the IL is early July, but it's unclear whether he'll be ready for big-league action at that time.

Officially signs, moved to IL
The Nationals signed Kranick (elbow) to a one-year, $800,000 contract Tuesday and placed him on the 15-day injured list.
Impact
Per Jessica Camerato of MLB.com, Kranick's contract also contains a club option for 2027. The Nationals designated right-hander Jackson Rutledge for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for Kranick, who was immediately placed on the 15-day injured list while he continues to recover from the flexor tendon surgery he underwent last summer. Washington signed Kranick after he flashed a fastball that sat around 94-to-95 miles per hour during a recent showcase for teams, but it's unclear how close he might be to facing hitters in a game setting.

Latches on with Nationals
The Nationals signed Kranick (elbow) to a contract Friday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Kranick underwent flexor tendon surgery last July and has now latched on with a new organization after holding a showcase for teams earlier this month. It's likely a minor-league contract, as Kranick doesn't figure to be ready to pitch at the big-league level until the second half.

Set to throw for teams
Kranick (elbow) will throw for teams Friday in Philadelphia, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Kranick has been a free agent since November while recovering from flexor tendon surgery, but he will now have a chance to prove his health in 2026. The right-hander posted a 3.65 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 25 strikeouts over 37 innings in 24 appearances out of the bullpen with the Mets last season before suffering the elbow injury in July.
