Moved down to minors The Angels optioned Lugo to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.
Impact Lugo had been struggling to garner playing time, starting in just one of the Angels' previous seven contests prior to being sent down. He's posted a .707 OPS with four homers, nine RBI and nine runs over 70 plate appearances in the majors this season but has a 0:24 BB:K. Lugo's return to the minors made room for infielder Christian Moore to rejoin the 26-man roster.

Pops fourth homer Lugo went 2-for-2 with a solo home run and a second RBI in Saturday's 17-4 loss to the Athletics.
Impact Lugo arguably did more off the bench than most of his teammates did over the full game. However, that hasn't been the norm since his most recent call-up from Triple-A Salt Lake -- he's gone just 3-for-19 with six strikeouts and no walks over nine contests since he was brought up Aug. 24. Overall, the 24-year-old has a .213/.226/.475 slash line with four homers, eight RBI, eight runs scored, two doubles, one triple and no stolen bases over 62 plate appearances in the majors.

Back in majors The Angels recalled Lugo from Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.
Impact The 24-year-old will take the roster spot of Nolan Schanuel (wrist), who was placed on the injured list Sunday. Lugo received his first taste of the majors earlier this season and had an .804 OPS in 17 games. He'll likely serve as the Angels' fourth outfielder behind Taylor Ward, Jo Adell and Bryce Teodosio.

Impact The 24-year-old will take the roster spot of Nolan Schanuel (wrist), who was placed on the injured list Sunday. Lugo received his first taste of the majors earlier this season and had an .804 OPS in 17 games. He should have a path to playing time since Jorge Soler (back) is also on the shelf.

Back to minors Lugo was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.
Impact Lugo was promoted to the majors June 2 but made only one start since. He'll now head back to the minors, where he should get more regular playing time.

Back in big leagues The Angels recalled Lugo from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.
Impact With the Angels placing third baseman Yoan Moncada (knee) going on the injured list in a corresponding move, Lugo is eligible to rejoin the big club ahead of Monday's game in Boston, despite being optioned to Triple-A just four days earlier. Lugo is capable of playing all three outfield spots but will likely find playing time difficult to come by while all of Mike Trout, Jorge Soler, Taylor Ward and Jo Adell are available.

Bumped to minors Lugo was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.
Impact Lugo has slowly lost his grip on regular playing time, and the addition of Chris Taylor has further crowded the Angels' outfield. He'll benefit from more regular playing time at Salt Lake and look to get back on track after going hitless in his last 14 at-bats prior to being demoted.

Out of Halos' lineup Lugo is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Athletics.
Impact After a stretch with five straight starts -- four of them coming in center field -- Lugo has now been on the bench twice in three games. It will be Kyren Paris in center field and batting ninth for the Angels in Thursday's series finale.

On bench Tuesday Lugo isn't in the Angels' lineup Tuesday against the Athletics.
Impact Prior to Tuesday's lineup card, Lugo had started in five consecutive games. In that stretch, he went 6-for-19 with a home run and two RBI. However, he struck out eight times and did not manage a walk in that frame. While the rookie has been hitting the ball well, he will get some rest Tuesday with Kyren Paris starting in center field.
MAY 20 • ROTOWIRE
Two extra-base hits Saturday Lugo went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an RBI double in Saturday's 11-9 win over the Dodgers.
Impact Lugo was in the lineup for the fourth time in five games, which includes him starting each of the last three contests in center field over Kyren Paris. Lugo has earned the opportunity, batting .381 with three homers and six RBI over his first eight major-league games. As long as he hits well, he should maintain a large share of playing time in the Angels' outfield, though Lugo's role could be reduced once Mike Trout (knee) is able to return.

Homers off bench again Lugo hit a two-run home run as a pinch hitter in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Padres.
Impact Lugo is already showing some talent off the bench -- he's homered twice as a pinch hitter in the last three days. All three of his major-league hits over five games have gone for extra bases (two homers, one triple), and he's added three RBI and four strikeouts. Lugo's carving out a part-time role in the outfield, having started two of the last four games. Both of his starts have come in left field, pushing Taylor Ward to designated hitter. The Angels' outfield has exclusively featured right-handed hitters, so it's unlikely a platoon situation develops, but Lugo's performance in a limited role could help him earn more looks.
