Impact Less than a week after being sent outright to Triple-A Worcester, Dermody will now look to latch on with a new organization. The 32-year-old lefty has been struggling heavily as of late, allowing three runs across four innings in his lone MLB start June 8 and 11 runs over 14 innings in his last three minor-league appearances. Dermody was having a decent season in Worcester before slumping, so it's very possible another organization signs him to a minor-league deal.

Impact In an effort to afford the other members of the rotation an additional day of rest, the Red Sox summoned Dermody from Worcester to make a spot start in Thursday's series finale in Cleveland. The journeyman southpaw proceeded to throw four innings and gave up three earned runs on four hits and one walk in a losing effort, then was booted off the 40-man roster a day later when the Red Sox reinstated outfielder Adam Duvall from the injured list. As expected, Dermody passed through waivers unclaimed, so he'll stick around in the organization and will presumably settle back into a rotation spot for Worcester.

He was pulled early after allowing two home runs to Jose Ramirez, and manager Alex Cora announced after the game that the southpaw is already getting sent back down to the minors.
