Impact Williams had a memorable moment last season, hitting a walkoff homer in his first career start. His overall performance wasn't particularly impressive, however, as he hit .245/.315/.316 with a zero percent barrel rate in 108 trips to the plate. His defensive versatility and youth could nonetheless make him interesting enough for another team to claim off waivers. The move clears a roster spot for the newly-signed Nick Castellanos.

Impact Williams has gone hitless in three at-bats off the bench since being activated from the COVID-19 IL on Sept. 20. The club has decided to recall infielder Alec Bohm from Lehigh Valley, which leaves Williams as the odd man out on the 28-man roster. Assuming Williams does not return to the majors during the final five days of the season, he'll conclude his big-league campaign having hit .245/.315/.316 with one homer, four doubles and six RBI across 98 at-bats.

Impact Williams has been out since testing positive for coronavirus in late August. He's been cleared to return after a lengthy 10-game rehab assignment in which he struggled to a .351 OPS. He'll fill a bench role for the Phillies down the stretch, as his .253/.324/.326 slash line through 105 plate appearances in his rookie season makes him ill-suited for everyday at-bats.
