Impact Basabe was sidelined for nearly four months with a sprained left wrist before he began a rehab assignment in the ACL on July 2. Though Basabe was initially expected to report to Triple-A Sacramento coming out of spring training, the wrist injury prompted the Giants to keep him at Richmond once his rehab assignment concluded. He could move up to Triple-A in short order with a few good performances at Double-A.

Impact Basabe was assigned to the Giants' minor-league camp in mid-March after he sustained a significant wrist sprain that ended his long-shot bid for a reserve outfield spot on San Francisco's Opening Day roster. The 24-year-old is eventually expected to settle at Triple-A Sacramento once he gets a clean bill of health, but the Giants will first let him build up in the lower levels of the minors as he looks to make up for the lost time.

Impact Basabe exited Tuesday's game with an injury, and he'll be sidelined for the remainder of the regular season. He'd be eligible to return in early October if the Giants make a run in the postseason, although the severity of his injury isn't yet known. Steven Duggar was recalled by the Giants to serve as outfield depth.

Impact The 24-year-old hit a grounder in his first at-bat Tuesday and appeared to tweak something as he was thrown out at first base. Brandon Crawford entered the game at shortstop while Daniel Robertson shifted to the outfield. Basabe should be considered day-to-day until more is known on the injury.
