Eduardo Escobar - Hits first homer as Angel Escobar went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run and a walk in the second contest of Thursday's doubleheader against Detroit.

Impact Escobar sat out the first game of the twin bill before starting at first base and batting eighth in Game 2. The veteran contributed to a four-homer effort for Los Angeles, swatting a solo shot to right field in the fourth inning. It was his first long ball since joining the Angels on June 23 -- in fact, prior to Thursday, he hadn't gone deep in 35 total games dating back to May 16 against Tampa Bay when he was still a member of the Mets. Escobar has just five homers in 60 games overall this season after going deep at least 20 times in each of his previous two campaigns.

Hunter Renfroe - Enjoys big day Thursday Renfroe went 6-for-9 with a home run, two doubles, two runs and two RBI across both games of Thursday's doubleheader sweep of the Tigers.

Impact Renfroe collected three hits in each game of the twin bill, knocking two doubles in the matinee and swatting a solo homer in the nightcap. His six hits on the day were more than he had tallied over his past 11 contests combined coming into Thursday. Renfroe had been slumping badly prior to the doubleheader, going just 1-for-23 over his previous eight games.

Patrick Sandoval - Nabs win in nightcap of twin bill Sandoval (6-7) earned the win in Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader against Detroit, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four batters over five innings.

Impact Sandoval needed 97 pitches to get through five frames, but he kept the Tigers off the scoreboard outside of a two-run third inning. The timing of the left-hander's turn in the rotation in relation to the All-Star break limited him to just three appearances in July, but he pitched well in those outings, posting a 2.08 ERA and 1.04 WHIP over 17.1 frames. Sandoval may be turning things around after compiling a 4.57 ERA and 1.49 WHIP across 15 starts through the end of June.
