Impact The right-hander's stay on the injured list was a brief one, as he was able to bounce back from right shoulder inflammation quickly. Wells fared well in his first outing since suffering the injury, surrendering one run on four hits while striking out one over three innings Saturday against Double-A Erie.

On IL with shoulder inflammation Wells was placed on the Double-A Chesapeake 7-day injured list Friday due to right shoulder inflammation, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Impact Wells had a brief run-in with abdominal discomfort in May, but he'll hit the injured list Friday for the first time in 2025 with shoulder inflammation. The 23-year-old has posted a 3.29 ERA and a 36:12 K:BB over 38.1 innings with Chesapeake this season.

Returns to action Saturday Wells (abdomen) struck out six and allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks in his start Saturday for Double-A Chesapeake.

Impact In his previous outing May 17, Wells was lifted after just one inning due to left abdominal discomfort, but the issue wasn't significant enough for him to miss a turn through the Chesapeake rotation. After turning in a 6.71 ERA over 21 starts with High-A Aberdeen in 2024, Wells has enjoyed better results at Chesapeake despite the jump in competition. Over 31.1 innings in the Eastern League, Wells owns a 3.45 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 29:9 K:BB.

Pulled from start Wells was pulled from his start with Double-A Chesapeake on Saturday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Impact There was very little detail provided about the injury, though it's positive that it's not an arm issue. Wells has pitched well with Chesapeake this season, maintaining a 3.08 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with a 23:6 K:BB across 26.1 frames.
