Impact The righty went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment Thursday. With a 4.94 ERA in 31 innings this season, Middleton has pitched well enough to get another opportunity with Seattle if injuries create an opening in the bullpen.

Impact Deployed as an opener for the first time in his big-league career, Middleton looked decidedly uncomfortable in the role as Colorado smoked a barrage of line drives off the right-hander, with the biggest blow being a bases-loaded double by Dom Nunez.
