Optioned to Triple-A Herget was optioned Tuesday to Triple-A Louisville, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Impact Lucas Sims (back) has been activated from the IL in a corresponding 26-man roster move. Herget logged two innings of relief in Monday's win over the Rays and was going to be unavailable for a couple of days. He should get another shot soon enough.

Joins Reds on NRI deal Herget agreed to a minor-league contract with the Reds on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Impact The right-hander will be in camp with Cincinnati as a non-roster invitee. Herget, 31, pitched in independent ball in 2021 and 2022 before the Rays brought him. He leaned on his changeup more than any other pitch during him brief time with Tampa Bay last season.
