INJURIES

Signs with Korean team The Kiwoom Heroes signed Hiura to a one-year, $400,000 contract Monday, Jee-ho Yoo of South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reports.
Impact He can earn an additional $100,000 in incentives. Hiura was a non-roster invitee by the Dodgers during spring training but was released before the minor-league season began. He'll now head overseas to continue his playing career.
MAY 18 • ROTOWIRE
Available for Wednesday's game Hiura (hand) is listed as an available bench option for Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Giants, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact Hiura's last spring appearance came back on Feb. 28, when he exited a game against the Cubs early after getting hit on the hand by a pitch. The Dodgers reassigned him to minor-league camp shortly thereafter, but Hiura's inclusion on the lineup card for Wednesday implies that he's moved past the hand injury.
MARCH 18 • ROTOWIRE
Dodgers make first round of spring training cuts as former top prospect's fate is sealed The Dodgers' first round of spring training cuts jettisoned 11 players, including two top prospects and former top prospect Keston Hiura.
MARCH 2 • DODGERSWAY.COM
Demoted to minor-league camp The Dodgers reassigned Hiura (hand) to minor-league camp Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Impact Hiura saw action in eight games in the majors with the Rockies last season but never appeared to be a likely candidate to break camp with a loaded Dodgers squad. The 29-year-old exited his most recent Cactus League appearance Saturday after being hit on the hand by a pitch, but assuming he avoided any structural damage, he should be ready to go when Triple-A Oklahoma City opens its season in late March.
MARCH 2 • ROTOWIRE
Exits after HBP Hiura was removed from Saturday's Cactus League game against the Cubs after getting hit on the hand by a pitch, Jack Vita of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Impact Hiura was pulled immediately after taking a 97-mph sinker off his hand in the fifth inning. The severity of his injury is unknown, but the Dodgers should provide more information in the near future and will likely give him at least a day or two off to recover.
FEBRUARY 28 • ROTOWIRE
Invited to Dodgers' camp Hiura signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Thursday and received an invitation to spring training, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Impact Hiura spent most of last season with the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate, where he slashed .272/.369/.507 with 21 homers, 67 RBI and 62 runs scored across 445 plate appearances. There doesn't seem to be room for him on the Dodgers' star-studded roster, so he will almost certainly be used as organizational depth at Triple-A Oklahoma City.
FEBRUARY 12 • ROTOWIRE
Sent outright to Triple-A The Rockies outrighted Hiura to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday.
Impact It's unclear whether Hiura plans to accept the outright assignment or elect free agency. The veteran infielder had a .611 OPS in eight games for the Rockies before being bumped from their 40-man roster.

Booted from 40-man roster The Rockies designated Hiura for assignment Monday.
Impact Hiura's playing time had been scarce lately, so it's not a surprise he's the one losing his spots on the 26-man and 40-man rosters to make room for the return of Michael Toglia. The veteran infielder had a .611 OPS in eight games for the Rockies and will go through the waivers process.
JUNE 16, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Losing out on playing time Hiura is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.
Impact Hiura has produced a weak .222/.333/.278 slash line in 21 plate appearances since being promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque on May 31 and looks to be moving into more of a short-side platoon role. He'll be on the bench for the third time in the Rockies' last four matchups with right-handed starting pitchers.

Idle Saturday Hiura isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Impact Hiura will get a day off Saturday after getting hit by a pitch twice in Friday's contest. Kyle Farmer will fill in as Colorado's first baseman and bat eighth.

On bench for series finale Hiura is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants.
Impact Hiura will take a seat for the series finale after starting at first base and going 1-for-5 with an RBI in the Rockies' first two matchups with the Giants. Orlando Arcia will fill in for Hiura at first base Thursday.
JUNE 12, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Splitting time at first base Hiura is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
Impact It's the second straight game on the bench for Hiura, who has gone 2-for-11 with a double and two runs in five games since being added to the big-league roster last weekend. Kyle Farmer is starting at first base Sunday, with he and Hiura each receiving four starts at the position in Colorado's past eight games.
JUNE 8, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Getting third start in four games Hiura will start at first base and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
Impact After being called up from Triple-A Albuquerque over the weekend, Hiura is now slated to get his third start in the Rockies' last four games. Hiura has gone 1-for-6 with a double and two runs since joining the Rockies and will likely need to continue hitting to solidify a spot in the everyday lineup.

Rockies demote first baseman Michael Toglia

Struggling Colorado Rockies first baseman Michael Toglia has been optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque prior to his team's game against the New York Mets
MAY 31, 2025 • Associated Press
Called up by Colorado The Rockies selected Hiura's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.
Impact Hiura wasn't able to crack the Rockies' Opening Day roster and started the season in Triple-A, where he is slashing .243/.360/.467 with nine home runs and 31 RBI in 200 plate appearances. With Michael Toglia being optioned to Triple-A, Kyle Farmer will likely take over as the Rockies' everyday first baseman while Hiura provides depth at the position.
MAY 31, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Sent to minor-league camp The Rockies reassigned Hiura to minor-league camp Wednesday.
Impact Though he's just 28 years old and has three double-digit home-run seasons on his resume at the MLB level, Hiura's high strikeout rates and lack of defensive flexibility have made it difficult for him to stick in the big leagues over the past two seasons. He spent the majority of the 2024 campaign at the Triple-A level and settled for a minor-league deal with the Rockies this winter upon reaching free agency. Hiura hit just .167 and struck out in nine of his 18 at-bats in Cactus League play, so his dismissal from big-league camp comes as little surprise. He's expected to open the season at Triple-A Albuquerque.
MARCH 19, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Receives NRI from Colorado The Rockies signed Hiura to a minor-league contract Wednesday that includes an invitation to spring training, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
Impact Hiura, 28, went 4-for-27 during his brief time with the Angels last season and sported a .943 OPS with 26 homers at the Triple-A level in 2024. It's conceivable that the former top prospect wins an Opening Day roster spot, but Hiura will more likely begin the year at Triple-A Albuquerque.
JANUARY 15, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Outrighted to Salt Lake The Angels outrighted Hiura to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.
Impact Hiura will remain within the Angels organization after being designated for assignment earlier this week and clearing waivers. Across his 19 games in Salt Lake this season, Hiura is slashing .360/.429/.853 with 12 home runs and 21 RBI across 84 plate appearances. That production hasn't translated to the majors, however, as the 27-year-old has gone just 4-for-27 with a 37 percent strikeout rate in 10 games this season.

Outrighted to Salt Lake Hiura was outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.
Impact Hiura will remain within the Angels' organization after being designated for assignment by the Halos on Tuesday. Across his 19 outings in Salt Lake, Hiura is slashing .360/.429/.853 with 12 home runs and 21 RBI across 84 plate appearances. That production hasn't translated to the majors, however, as the 27-year-old has gone just 4-for-27 with a 37 percent strikeout rate over 10 outings.
