Cut by Baltimore Gutierrez has been released by the Orioles, Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Impact Gutierrez started at third base for the Orioles on Opening Day, but he was sent to the minors in early May, and he was ultimately released after posting a .695 OPS over 61 games with Triple-A Norfolk.

Impact Gutierrez was designated for assignment by Baltimore on Monday, but he'll remain in the organization. The 27-year-old played in 34 Triple-A games last year and hit .254 with four homers, 17 RBI, 11 runs and a stolen base.

With a .091 batting average and .367 OPS, the 27-year-old is providing very little production at the hot corner for Baltimore.

Impact The third baseman didn't hit very consistently overall this year, but he hit safely in 14 of his last 16 games, going 19-for-54 (.352) in that season-ending hot stretch. Gutierrez posted a .608 OPS with three home runs, 20 RBI, 23 runs scored and three triples across 295 plate appearances between Baltimore and Kansas City.
