Impact Entering after three innings from River Ryan, Montero spun four shutout frames to earn his 10th win of the campaign. It was a positive showing for the right-hander after surrendering 10 runs in 12 innings over his past three starts. On the year, Montero owns a 3.48 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 107:37 K:BB in 155 innings (32 appearances), and it remains to be seen if he'll make another appearance before the conclusion of the regular season.

Piggybacking Monday Montero is scheduled to pitch Monday against the Nationals, piggybacking off starter River Ryan, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Impact The right-hander has lasted exactly four frames in each of his past three starts, surrendering 10 runs on 16 hits with a 10:5 K:BB. Montero will now be bumped from the rotation, but he could still have a sizable workload Monday since Ryan is likely to have a limited workload in his Tigers debut.

Impact Montero did a decent job of limiting damage despite all of the baserunners, but he didn't get much run support in the 5-1 Detroit loss. The righty hasn't earned a win since Aug. 13, and in five appearances since then, he's now 0-2 with a 5.64 ERA. Overall, Montero has been better with a 3.58 ERA across 151 innings this season, though he's only struck out 102 batters, which has capped his fantasy appeal. The 26-year-old is lined up to take the hill again Monday against the Nationals and then is tentatively scheduled to pitch the last game of the regular season versus the Pirates on Sept. 27.

Impact Montero was briefly away from the team for the birth of his daughter, but he's back with the Tigers and is tentatively lined up to face the Blue Jays on Wednesday, per Evan Woodbery of MLive.com. Montero has a 4-3 record across his 10 starts since the All-Star break with a 3.99 ERA and 1.07 WHIP over 49.2 innings.

Impact The start of the game was delayed by 100 minutes due to rain, but Montero may have had his workload limited regardless. The right-hander was lifted after 74 pitches (39 strikes), the third time in his last four outings he's failed to reach 80 pitches. Montero's 147 innings on the season are a career high, but right in line with the 133.1 innings he tossed in 2025 and the 146.2 he worked in 2024 across all levels, so fatigue shouldn't be a big factor for him. Over his last eight trips to the mound, however, Montero's sagged to a 4.61 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 20:12 K:BB in 41 frames. With Jack Flaherty (forearm) and River Ryan options to join the big-league staff before the end of the season, Montero could be shifted into a tandem or piggyback role over the final weeks.
