Impact Garcia will miss a second straight start due to left hand soreness. The injury forced Garcia from Tuesday's game against the Nationals, but it's something he's dealt with off-and-on for the past month. Consider him day-to-day. Nick Loftin will get another start at third base in Garcia's stead.

Nick Mears - Completes bullpen session Mears (shoulder) threw a bullpen Tuesday and could go on a rehab assignment soon, MLB.com reports.

Impact Mears was placed on the injured list May 29 due to a right shoulder impingement and appears to be progressing nicely in his rehab. With a rehab assignment on the horizon, the right-hander should be back in the big-league bullpen fairly soon, assuming no setbacks. Before being shelved, Mears posted a 5.12 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 15:11 K:BB across 19.1 innings.

Michael Massey - Clubs seventh homer in win Massey went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Nationals.

Impact Massey launched a 430-foot solo shot to straightaway center field in the third inning, marking the fourth Royals homer of the game. The second baseman has enjoyed a productive June, hitting .320 with three homers, three doubles, nine RBI and seven runs scored across 14 appearances, though he has yet to draw a walk this month. Overall, the 28-year-old is slashing .261/.278/.466 with seven homers, 12 doubles, 24 RBI, 20 runs and a stolen base through 57 contests.
