Receives call-up The Rays recalled Misner from Triple-A Durham on Wednesday.

Impact Misner had been on track to begin the season in the minors after being optioned to Triple-A last Wednesday, but a spot on the Rays' Opening Day roster opened up for him after Richie Palacios suffered a fractured ring finger that will send him to the injured list. With Christopher Morel, Jonny DeLuca and Josh Lowe seemingly locked in as the Rays' preferred starting outfield trio against right-handed pitching, the lefty-hitting Misner likely won't be in line for many at-bats to begin the season.

Sent to Triple-A The Rays optioned Misner to Triple-A Durham on Wednesday.

Impact Along with Jake Mangum and Chandler Simpson, Misner was one of three players vying for a backup outfield role that was sent to the minors Wednesday. Misner saw action in eight games with Tampa Bay in 2024 but otherwise spent the entire season at Durham, where he slashed .248/.360/.442 with 17 home runs and 30 stolen bases over 519 plate appearances.

Summoned to big leagues The Rays selected Misner's contract from Triple-A Durham on Friday, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Impact It's the first major-league promotion for Misner, who has slashed .247/.356/.446 with 15 home runs and 27 stolen bases with Durham this season. Misner, 26, also has a 30.1 percent strikeout rate with Durham, and swings and misses have been a problem for him throughout pro ball. He's capable of handling all three outfield spots but it's unclear how much Misner will play.

Impact Misner will be set for his big-league debut and will be replacing Richie Palacios (knee) on the active roster. He has a 108 wRC+ and .358 wOBA across 433 plate appearances with Triple-A Durgam this season, though he's old for the level at 26. Misner isn't likely to have a role as a regular in the Rays' lineup.
