Steals base in loss Profar went 1-for-3 with two walks, an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 8-4 loss to the Pirates.

Impact Profar managed to get on base three times for the third time this season. He got an RBI walk in the first, then later walked again in the fifth and reached on an infield single in the seventh and stole his second base of the year. The 28-year-old is slashing .278/.378/.333 with just three RBI and five runs scored through 12 games. He's maintained pretty solid discipline at the plate with a 7:4 BB:K but otherwise has stayed pretty quiet in terms of his overall production at the plate.

Impact Profar started in right field for the first time this season after logging time in left field and at first base prior to Saturday. The utility man came through with his second multi-hit game of the campaign and extended his modest hit streak to three games. Profar is slashing .346/.387/.423 on the season and has registered a standout 6.5 percent strikeout rate in the early going.

Impact Profar actually reached base twice in this one, but one of those instances came because of a fielder's choice. His triple came on a bloop into shallow right that was misplayed by two Giants outfielders, and Profar was able to use his speed to turn it into a fluky triple. He should continue to see time in left field until Trent Grisham (hamstring) is able to return from the injured list -- which could happen quite soon.

Could step into center field role Profar could serve as the team's everyday center fielder to begin the season if Trent Grisham (hamstring) remains sidelined, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Impact Grisham suffered a hamstring injury Thursday, though there isn't a lot of concern about the severity to this point. If, however, Grisham is sidelined longer than expected, Profar could see a significant increase in playing time. Brian O'Grady and Jorge Mateo are other candidates to play in center field, though they have yet to prove themselves at the big-league level the way that Profar has.
