Debuting as designated hitter Caminero will bat fifth and serve as the designated hitter in his major-league debut Saturday against the Blue Jays, Steve Carney of StPeteNine.com reports.

Impact Caminero was called up straight from Double-A on Friday spent his first day on the roster watching from the bench. Whether that was a sign that we shouldn't expect to see him too often over the remainder of the season or merely an attempt to ease his transition to the highest level is not yet clear. The latter would seem to be more likely given that the Rays are confident installing him right in the middle of the order in his debut.

Impact Caminero was officially promoted from Double-A Montgomery to the big leagues earlier Friday, but he will have to wait to make his first start. It wouldn't seem to be a great sign for his playing time outlook down the stretch, although perhaps Tampa Bay just wanted to given the youngster a day to settle in. Curtis Mead is at third base Friday and Osleivis Basabe is handling shortstop.

Promotion made official The Rays selected Caminero's contract from Double-A Montgomery on Friday, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Impact One of the top prospects in all of baseball, Caminero will skip the Triple-A level and report to the big leagues after just turning 20 in July. He earned the promotion after batting .324/.384/.591 with 31 home runs and 94 RBI between High-A Bowling Green and Montgomery, with 20 of those homers coming at the Double-A level. While primarily a third baseman, Caminero has experience at all four infield positions and could potentially take over at shortstop for the Rays.

Making jump to majors Caminero was promoted to the majors from Double-A Montgomery on Thursday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Caminero is widely regarded as not only the Rays' best prospect, but also one of the best across the league. He'll make the jump directly from Montgomery after maintaining a .309/.373/.548 line at the level across 351 plate appearances -- good for a 140 wRC+. The 20-year-old has played primarily at third base this season, but he has also made 29 appearances at shortstop. If he gets regular playing time in the majors, it's likely to come at the latter position and at the expense of Taylor Walls.

Three-homer game at Double-A Caminero hit three home runs, including one that traveled 472 feet, in one half of Double-A Montgomery's doubleheader Saturday against Birmingham.

Impact One of the game's very best prospects, Caminero's power has come in bunches recently, as he also had a two-homer day Aug. 5 and his next most recent Double-A homer came back on July 2, just before his 20th birthday. All told, his .302/.361/.488 slash line and 122 wRC+ as one of the youngest players at Double-A is very impressive. Caminero's 18.9 percent strikeout rate and 8.4 percent walk rate are improvements over the 25.2 percent strikeout rate and 6.3 percent walk rate he logged earlier this year with High-A Bowling Green.

Already dialed in at Double-A Caminero is hitting .306 with two home runs and a 19.6 percent strikeout rate in 13 games with Double-A Montgomery.

Impact The 19-year-old hitting savant hardly skipped a beat after getting promoted from High-A Bowling Green in late March. Caminero has been particularly dialed in over his last 10 games, slashing .371/.429/.571 with a pair of home runs. He has established himself as one of the game's elite offensive prospects for dynasty leagues.

Impact Caminero is one of the Rays' top prospects and impressed at High-A Bowling Green early in 2023, slashing .356/.409/.685 with 11 home runs, 32 RBI, 30 runs and two stolen bases over 36 games. The 19-year-old has performed well at every level of the minors so far and will face increased competition following his promotion.

Surpassing high expectations Caminero is hitting .500 with four home runs, one steal, six strikeouts and four walks through 39 plate appearances for High-A Bowling Green.

Impact His .542 BABIP will obviously come way down, but his groundball rate is under 40 percent for the first time in his career and he has not hit an infield flyball yet. Additionally, Caminero has an elite 46.7 percent hard-hit rate, so there's no denying the quality of contact through eight games has been excellent. The 19-year-old third baseman is perhaps the buzziest young prospect in the minors and seems to be on a clear path toward top-10 prospect status by year's end.
